Hey Guys, I really need some help and im hoping you can help. I have a 2000 LS V8 and im feeling this little push or a skip in gear while accelerating pass 60mph also at a traffic stops i will feel viberation or shakes. so now i im wondering what these problems are and so i can fix them. Thank You in advance!

coils. one or more have gone bad due to leaking valve cover gaskets.

Most likely cause. Could be something else, but based on your description..coils. available on ebay for the best price right now.

it sounds like i'm having the exact same troubles, could you elaborate a bit more though just to be sure? i have a 2000 LS V8 70k miles.. does it feel like its slipping gears between 4th and 5th usually between 45-65 mph? and are you getting a shudder that almost feels like a stall coming on when at a stoplight? cuz these are the exact same probelms i have going on. the tranny slips i know are a solenoid pack that needs to be replaced in the transmission, which can run you anywhere between 1200 at a stealership to probably 700 at one of those tranny specialty shops. although noone has really yet to give me a more concrete answer on the stoplight shimmy... might be same problem.
if it sounds similar to that, then let meknow, i'm less inclined to think its a coil (unfortunately) cuz there's no loss of power and its not as if i can't accelerate past 60 (lord knows i've done that...heehee) its just seems almost unsure of which gear to choose. not sure if i'm going to end up switching out the solenoid pack or doing the SST upgrade instead that should take care of any gear indecision!

The shudder you feel at a stoplight is a misfire in one or more of the ignition coils. Same goes for the acceleration.
Your best bet is to replace them all. Search on here how to do it. It's been done many a time.

i don't feel any shudder at all under acceleration, just a minor shimmy when idling at a stoplight or something. only when in drive do i get the problem too, as i said i'm not having any horsepower issues, its still pulling strong...like i said its not hesitating/stalling at all at 60 for me but its slipping gears. but when the temp breaks into the double digits i'll take a looksee

Yes, it does it feel like its slipping gears between 4th and 5th usually between 45-65 mph

yea they made a technical service bulletin about the Solenoid Pack in the tranny for that. i know i'm against the grain not thinking that its a coil, but it doesn't feel like an engine issue, is that the same kinda shutter at stop you get too? cuz its not rhythmic or frequent enough nor does it really feel like a misfire, my last car had misfire issues and it's not the same shudder misfire. i said in another post it almost feels more like a shudder from the transmission area, not the engine... theres no drop or stutter in RPMs or anything like that which leads me away from the engine bein the problem.

The problem is, while accelarating pass 60, there will be a skip or push it will not go pass 60 smoothly. Its always rough and shakey untill I press on the gas pass 60. And at stop lights a continueous shaking or vibration.

hmm. Not the coil symptoms I was having. Mine would be a huge power drop under hard acceleration, but randomly. Strong acceleration from 4.5k to the 5.5k then suddenly the ach needle drops down to about 2k..pause, then it picks back up

I don't know if its the same thing, but when it happens, it takes a couple seconds of a delay or stuggle at the same spot and then it does pick up and when this happens it feels like thecar is viberating or shaking untill I push the gas pass 45-60. Its just that it happens at the same spot all the I when the car heats up. It does not happen in the mornings when I first drive it.

i am having all these same symptoms. i know its a misfire though, because i've already been through this more than twice. take it to the dealer, take the service tech that is gonna be working with your car for a test drive and point out the symptoms. if he knows what hes doing he would atleast start at the coils testing them to find out which ones are failing. they seem to die one by one and when one is on its way out, it starts crapping out on you under light acceleration or at a stop light for 2 minutes you feel the car shake..thats not normal thats a misfire you are feeling.....just my .02 cents

k. yea that doesn't sound quite like the problems i'm having either. that sounds like mroe of a coil problem. mine is that it is slipping in and out of gear between 4th and 5th, not that its struggling at all but like it can't pick the gear to be in... but as for the idle shudder its so light and my RPMs/Idle/Power aren't affected at all... but what the hell no harm in having them at least LOOK at my coils too. doesn't hurt to check. waitin on the tax refund first though..

actually i took it out for an analyzing drive today.. really turn off all radio and just drive at various speeds with windows open, really listen to everything... and maybe it is a coil! i hope so. much cheaper fix. (foot in mouth if it is!)

can anybody please get to the bottom of this, please if you have encounter this problem, please provide insights, anything that can help. Thank you in advance
