A code P0430 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
* An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
* There is an exhaust leak

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* Faulty spark plugs or wires
* Faulty coil (pack)
* Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
* Faulty fuel injector(s)
* Burned exhaust valve
* Faulty catalytic converter(s)
* Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
* Faulty camshaft position sensor
* Defective computer
:D

so those coupled with the fact that i ca hear the cat failure and my lack of torque shell drive but anything over 2k rpm and the trans feels like its slipping or something of the sort

the 300 is a 'random misfire' which is usually a severe fuel problem or a vacuum leak. when at idle - are you pulling 18-22hg of vacuum?

you couldhave a clogged cat - but I would chase down other items first.

not to under mind your advice both of these codes came together so i am assuming it is the cats i was just wondering whats options i have for the misfire code

even though i can hear my cat rattling and i hear the exhaust leak from that area i was just wondering if the sluggish /slipping transmission feeling was related to misfire or compression drop

sighs im on it ill let you guys know how it works out thanks again also anyone mind letting me know where the trans dipstick /fill opening as well no mans book def is affecting me now

The misfire could have caused the bad catalytic converters. Row fuel hitting the hot catalyst causes it to get brittle and fall apart. Pieces of the catalyst get cought in the exhaust and restrict the flow. That is why they are suggesting you fix the misfire problem first. You put new cats on and they'll go bad too.

+1

and as a FYI - usually we see a misfire on a particular cylinder or two - not usually 'random' - unless it was left misfiring for a while.

is this a gen1 or gen2?

my apologies work has been hectic were gearing up for the field it is a gen2 i believe its an 03 ls8 if that helps at all i need a temp fix in case my wife becomes ill while I am in the field so i was wondering is there any temporary fix at all

nothing fellas come on please can i uninstall the o2 sensors loosen the cats them selves i cannot afford 8 coils and decent plugs at this point

Take it to the dealer. It should be covered.

FYI
You can get the parts and do the work yourself. It's really easy, but time consuming. Just put everything back the way it all came off. The ignition coils are about $100.00 for 8 on ebay. The valve cover gaskets are around $110.00 at the dealer. Spark plugs can normally just be cleaned, unless they were really jacked up.

Its covered if you have less than 100,000 miles on it since it hasn't been more than 10 years.

Have you taken it in? I thought you were in a hurry. Pick up the phone, call the dealer and make an appointment.

actually due to time restrains and my "deployment " to the field i got the crown Victoria fixed ill call Monday to drop it off Friday it only has 80k on it just a hair over actually

i replaced the plugs working on the cats and coils the plugs made no results well actually for a moment it worked a little better but ended up just like it was

okay been at the stealership for a few days but all is well as the extended warranty covers the damage YES!!!
