Okay, so. This sounds sorta weird, but awhile back, the trim on my LS was coming off. The body side molding on the passengers side. And it was too expensive to get fixed at the time. So we took the easy way out and just stuck some duct tape on it. This is a quick fix and looked terrible, but it worked for a little while. But since then it's been about 4 or five months and when that duct tape was taken off finally there is so much residue on there. I tried scraping it off with my fingernails. It barely works, nor is it very efficient. I tried goo gone, and i tried WD40. What do i do?!?!?
It looks so bad all the time and i feel embarrassed driving around with it on there. Any ideas?
I do have a buffer. It's not a very good one, but i do have one. It's a random orbital one that was like 30 bucks from autozone if this info helps in any way.

^he should have some adhesive removal. amazing how easy that stuff works.

don't scrape or scratch! and don't try any random chemicals it could damage your clear coat. i no the residue from duct tape dries hard and seems like most adhesive removals work best asap or on adhesive's that stay sticky for a while. some times if you wash your car and get the dirt and grime off and use some good wax on certain things you can't quiet get off with car wash soap, the oils in the wax, can help safely work it off with a microfiber cloth. i no that works sometimes to get off small splatters of road tar.

o that orbitals not nearly as fast to do anything either.

Use lighter fluid, it will take off the glue and it is cheap, you can also use tar and bug remover, none of the mention products will hurt the finish.

I would try a vinyl adhesive remover like what is used for removing lettering etc. I happend to see some at wal-mart the other day in the auto section by the paints etc. It will not damage paint

Go to any auto parts store, and get a can of 3M adhesive remover.

Personally I'd go Tarminator. I've seen some permanent streaking issues on wheels from using 3M adhesive remover.

There you have it. Tarminator it is!

Excellent product as well.

Did you ever buy the 5 gallon pail of it Kyle?

Dude, you have no idea what my detailing collection looks like. It's taking over my laundry room.

yea i bet, ive got a few shelve units that are just full of install parts, wires, fab products, and old equipment that takes up a whole wall in my garage.

Nope not yet. I always wondered how it works out of the aerosol can. That's a LOT of tar remover, but it's such a versatile product... bugs, adhesive, tar, old tire dressing....

hey guys. it came off, finally! I used this gum and adhesive remover. I went to O'reilly Auto Parts in search of the Tarminator stuff you guys were talking about, but they suggested this to me and it ended up working after half an hour of scrubbing and about half the bottle. But one other thing. Anyone have experience with the porter cable 7424 buffer? I'm thinking about getting it and i've heard nothing but good things about it. I just wanted to see if anyone could confirm my suspicions. Or if you have another buffer you like better, tell me!

and i would gladly come down to Kansas City, it sounds like a blast. I'm just not sure how that'd go over with the family. Hey all, i'm driving down to KC to get my car cleaned and have fun with people i met on the internet.
sounds a little shady?

My entire garage is dedicated to cleaners, parts, tools, fiberglassing materials, and a tiny spot for the lincoln,.......the wifes car is in the driveway!

thanks Kyle, i just bought some off ebay for 9 bucks for the 14oz one. i will see how it works on 3M adhesive tape residue.

Bud, you can get it much cheaper than that. Did that include shipping? NAPA carries it, as well as the 3M line. I just feel much safer using tarminator.

I've also used goof off on sticker residue. But that was on glass. Haven't tried it on paint.

yeah, that included shipping, plus, i'm a lazy guy when it comes to buying stuff, lol. i'd rather pay extra and have it delivered. i had like 400 credit on paypal anyway.
