LVC Members, today after checking my cars fluids I was unable to close my hood on my 1994 MarkVIII. The latch is functioning properly but it seems the area that it latches into on the hood is damaged or missing something. The area is slightly rusted but I don't remember what exactly it looked like before so I have no idea if a piece fell off due to the rust or what. I know it is a pain in the behind but is there any chance anyone can take a picture of the area under the hood that the latch locks into for me so I know if I know what I need. And if by chance anyone has a site or area that sells the piece I need. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think the best idea here is for you to take a picture of your car to see if something "rusted" off. I mean, if your car's parts are rusting off that badly it's time to replace your Mark VIII. I think your issue might not be what you think. At least I hope so.

This angle probably doesn't help much , but its all I got

And yes the cable bracket has been modified

the striker (latch) is not adjustable...but it is cleanable..
I had issues with mine not closing easily, then popping up around 70mph...I had it at the local Ford stealership to get the bumper painted; they took the latch apart, cleaned it, spooged it with some greasey love, then put it back together

...now that :q closes and locks upon it's own weight dropping and never pops up at high mph

Lubing it is a good idea, but it is adjustable by about an inch side to side and up and down. The latches bolts in the front are inside large squares that give you moving room

Pics would be good!

Adjust your latch, same happened with mine, and I moved it . Just look where the striker is hitting, when you close the hood, so you can know where to move it to.

When I got mine the hood was hard to close and the last guy had cracked the front lip on the hood from slamming it. There's another thing; don't shut the hood with your hands close to the front lip. I replaced the hood and now I always spread my hands out to shut it.

Anyway, it took my friend about five minutes to adjust the latch so it shut properly.
