Ok so everythings hooked up.(amp, sub, head unit) when I hit the brakes or a bump or turn it up past a 3rd of the way my sub cuts in and out. the amp stays on, just the sub cuts in and out. I was thinking it might be a ground problem but everywhere i ground it does the samething. I have tested the sub, the voice coil is fine. Any ideas??:confused::confused:

Sounds like a wire is pinched or bare somewhere. Trace any that you ran to the back and see?

traced them back and nothing.

time to rip it apart again!

Bad ground somewhere. It needs a good solid ground and if that's not it, it could just be the amp itself. Not sure if you bought it used or not but this could be the case.

i have tested the amp in a different car it works fine. I been just running thru it wire by wire. I am starting to think it is my head unit. where the rca's hook up.

That could be possible too. Try stripping some wire and while the RCA's are together, wrap the wire around the grounding part of them and see if that fixes the problem. Not sure what type of head unit you have but Pioneer has been known to cause this problem.

What kind of radio do you have? Are the pre outs attached directly to the back of the radio? If this is the case, you may need to invest in some decent RCA cables that are shielded. Spend the extra bucks and get some of those.
