Long Story Short: I need an '03 Lincoln LS V-8 Throttle Body.
My car started acting up on Saturday 10/17. It went in to engine fail safe mode and wouldn't hardly drive at all. I put it in the shop on Monday 10/19. They replaced a throttle position sensor or something like that on 10/20, but the car still didn't run. Something about a misfire on cylinder #2. On 10/21 they found out all the valve cover gaskets needed to be replaced along with the spark plugs and possibly the ignition coil packs. They quoted me like $800 plus whatever ignition coil packs needed to be replaced.
Well, luckily I called the dealer and they said I was still under the "extended service campaign" for that particular issue. So on 10/21 I had the car sent to a local dealer. The next day they told me everything would be covered. On 10/23 they said they had replaced the valve cover gaskets, all the spark plugs and all of the coil packs at no charge to me. "Great!", I say, "when can I pick up my car?"
Well, my car still didn't run right. They said the entire throttle body needed to be replaced and that it was on back order. Fortunately they said it was showing to be in stock on or around 11/1. 11/1 came and went so when I called on or around 11/4 they said the date had been pushed to 12/1.
About a week before Thanksgiving they started calling me wanting to know when I was going to pay them for the oil change and diagnostic work they did. I said I would pay for the oil change when I picked my car up and that I thought the diagnostic work would be removed once I fixed the problem. They said I was correct but that the parts arrival date had now been moved to 12/23 and they needed to be paid. I still haven't paid them anything.
Anyway, about a week ago I tried to source the part (used) off of the internet from some online parts companies. Well, I ordered one last Monday 12/7 and was supposed to receive tracking information within 48 to 72 hours, which is still no where to be found. I repeatedly called the company today to try and get the tracking information or that I was going to cancel my credit card payment. They promised me they would have it to me in 30 minutes about an hour and a half ago.
In the meantime I called the Lincoln dealer to see if the arrival date of the new throttle body was still 12/23. Lo and behold it has now moved to 1/31.
My car has almost been in the shop for 2 months and they are telling me it might be another month and a half. I assume they will probably push the date back once again so it could be even longer. I'm making car payments and keeping the vehicle fully insured. It's costing me $600 a month to not even drive the thing. I'm just lucky I have my first vehicle, a '95 Silverado, to drive me around in the meantime, and don't have to get a rental vehicle, which would be even more ridiculous.
I've also called Lincoln twice and they offered no assistance at all.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if they know where I might find a throttle body.
I've called several other places to try and find the throttle body, and they all say they have (1) in stock, but can't tell me where it will ship from or when exactly it will ship. I think all of their computer systems default to (1) so they can take my money and determine how to get the throttle body later. Problem is I don't think there are any to be had.
Please someone let me know if there is anything I might be able to do. I'm at a loss. I'd sell the car, but that's going to be hard since it doesn't run. If any of you guys have a spare throttle body from a modification you did please let me know.
Thanks,
Dex
