Long time reader, first time poster, and now proud owner of a 06 Lincoln LS. Thought I'd introduce myself to this particular LVC forum.
I had been searching for a new car for quite some time. I really needed to stop driving around a 98 sable and my 85 mustang was getting too crude to be a daily driver, especially after this winter. I did a lot of reading here to help me shop for a LS and as somebody who likes to get their hands dirty I hope I can contribute even a small portion to the wealth of knowledge here.
Living in the greater Detroit area I was lucky enough to have plenty to pick from, and found one with about 60K miles at a pretty fair price. The dealership did a fair amount of maintenance on it and I was happy when they addressed a few of the common concerns there are with this car. After about two weeks of driving I've been very happy with it, but as I was expecting not everything has been perfect.
I've read in depth the threads associated with the issues so a response isn't necessary, but I thought I'd post what I've run into so far...
1) I'm getting that dreaded start up cam, timing chain, exhaust or 'who knows what rattle' for just a second while the car revs up after a cold start. It isn't very loud or concerning but I plan on exploring a new oil filter (with anti-drainback) or 0 weight oil and updating that thread later on.
2) I'm noticing that jerk or squat from the tranny or mounts when going from park to drive. Its not noticeable from reverse or any other gear change, but its under warranty for awhile and I'll have to find some time to get it looked at. More of an annoyance than anything as its pretty slight at the moment.
3) A musty smell from the air system. I'm guessing, since it had been sitting for about a year the evap coils got a little moist and grew some friends. It looks like they tried to address it with a new cabin air filter and the fresh air intake looks very clean. I ordered some Klima Klean (yeah I probably paid too much for something that lysol will do) and plan on treating it. I was wondering what's the best way to snake a hose to get it as close to the evap as possible?
Thanks, and pic to follow (sorry its from my phone and at night but its the only one I have at the moment)
