My 97 is leaking antifreeze from what looks like a weep-hole beneath the heater core and to the left a little bit as seen from the front of the vehicle, in the engine compartment on the firewall. I can't think of what else it could be. Looking at it closely, it kinda looks like there may be something that attaches to it, but I don't know what. Here's a couple pictures...

Nope, that was a friend's car. Did both the heater core and blend door at the same time, in less than 4 hours. I guess I'll probably do the blend door at the same time on this one too, while I'm in there....

Here's a picture of a Mark VIII with the engine out. You can see the hole that I'm talking about a little better. It's just a little to the right of the bottom of the A/C canister.

Anyone? I want to get parts ordered as soon as possible, but don't want to do it until I know for sure...

Thanks!

what parts do u need? i have a blend door from my white mark viii bo or u can come pick it up?

That is the AC drain hole. Your heater core is indeed shot as coolant leaking from it is a sure sign.

Did you have to pull the dash completely to do the heater core? Or just pull it far enough off the firewall to get to it?

Pulling the dash (completely) kicked my ass for a bit. There is one hell of a lot of wires back there...

I just pulled it back as far as I could, and then a little further. This'll be the third time I've gone behind the dash of one of these now, so it's really not that bad of a job to me anymore. With that said, I'm still not looking forward to it...

I hear ya.

I've done the dash 'removal' twice, and I think I could get back there pretty quick.

I would not, not ever, want to try to hook one back up that's been taken out completely.

Lol, yeah, I wouldn't want to do that either!

I think the hardest part of the heater core job last time was removing the hose clamps since they're installed from underneath the car, before the engine is installed....

As I suggested to someone before, cut or break the old tubes off and then remove the hoses.

That is the correct answer in all this. If you ever look under your car with the a/c on, that is where the water on the ground is coming from.
