I suspected my heated seats wasnt working but when i would press the button the light would still turn green now the light wont come in does anyone know what that means its winter time now so id like to get them working i have a 02 ls:confused:
 
Not uncommon for the 1st gen LS heated seats to short out, the wire element may need to be replaced, but with anything electrical, check the fuses; passenger side foot well #16, and in the spare tire well #11.
 
My driver side stopped working :/, and i have the same question. Sucks when winter is coming up so quick.
 
I also have the same problem with my drivers seat. I know it's the element, and just haven't ordered a new one. The dealership shows an upper and lower element. I just have been too lazy to take the leather off the seat to see which element to order.
 
i hear changing the element is a nice size task i mean the heat heats up the car very well if its alot of work
 
or.... you could find someone parting out their LS like i did and just buy the seat...
 
I replaced my seat heater element a couple of months ago. You will need to take the seat out, remove the leather seat cover and it will be obvious where the break in the element is. Most likely it is under one of the folds in the seat. Bought a heater element on ebay and it worked great.

You MUST have a hog ring pliers and a bunch of hog rings to put this all back together. Found these at my local hardware store and it was under $20 for both. Don't even think about doing this without the hog ring pliers and a supply of new hog rings. Total time was about 3 hours.
 
SO pretty much if the fuses check out it is more than likely the element in the seat? Is there 2 elements ?are they linked? Because no part of my seat warms up.

Mine was the lower seat heater element last year. Fixing just that element resolved the no heat in the seat and the backrest. I ended up having a break in the element. I was able to solder it back together, wrap it in electrical tape, and put it all back together with the seat in the car.

But I actually am interested in how you removed the seat from the car. I recall the seat belt being an issue last year when I was working on the car. How did you get around that aspect?

That was the case with mine. No part of my seat warmed up. Fixing the lower element resolved the issue. What happens is part of the lower element gets stressed due to placing your knee in the seat to get something from the back, or a large jean pocket rivet constantly digging into a certain part of the seat, or keys in back pocket, etc.

There is an access panel on the side of the seat. Remove the panel and you can remove the bolt that holds the seat belt end to the seat. TORX head screw if I remember correctly.

BTW, Mine was the lower element that broke also.
