Has anyone done these yet

Yeah think i might since I am working with black and red. All my interior light s are in red. Rigged up for darken ship.

I run blue lights in the interior, looks nice in a white LS. I also have blue angel eyes, but with the windows tinted, the blue lights inside are a lot less noticable.
 
If you don't mind getting ticketed if you get pulled over, they will fit the LS with a little work. If you want to avoid getting cited for them, hook them up to a switch in the interior so you can turn them off if you see a cop.
 
how difficult was it to swap all the interior bulbs (i'm assuming you guys did the dash not just the domes?)

Nope....
That red kit was the Generation 5 dde kit. The best dde kit that was ever made. The kit used a light box. The light box had a number of slats to place any color filter you wanted. All you had to do was place the colored filter between the light box and the fiber optic cable to make the dde kit any color you wanted.....

Ok ya but its still not the same as the CCFLs. Very different technology

I just did the domes and the doors, as well as the glove box and the one under it. I want to replace the dash as well, but don't know how.

True but it should be way more robust and damage resistant than the glass CCFL...

I'd love to see a picture of what makes up a DDE kit, the guts not the finished product to see how they are assembled...

It depends on the kit. The Gen 3 to 5 kits had the rings, fiber optic cable and the light boxes. The new ccfl kits are just the neon tube incased in a plastic tube, with a balast. The ccfl are nice and bright. However if they get cold the start up for the rings can take some time, Where the gen 3 to 5 kits the start up are instant, even in 40 below weather...
I have an old picture of the Gen v kits around here some place if you wish to see what the gen v dde kit looked like uninstalled...

I have to agree with Jeremy here. The Gen V kits were the best and least problematic of the DDE kits. The only draw back was the light boxes. It would get a little crammed in the engine area trying to locate a good area for them. The good thing about the Gen V kits were if the bulb went out you just have to go down to Home Depot and get another one.

I attached a picture of the Gen 2 kit. There wasn't much difference between the Gen 2 and Gen 5 other than the size of the light box. IIRC, the Gen 5 box was a little bit bigger to hold a bigger bulb.

I knew what the CCFl where, i was curious as to who made the fiber optic kits... I'm kinda surprised that they have become hard to find. Who made them? I can't see how a fiber ring could be that difficult to make, the rest of it looks pretty simple, almost "science fair" simple. The rings themselves are what interest me, where they flexible or very rigid?

I agree about the cold start capabilities too... most florescents don't like cold weather...
