hello everyone,
i am sure this topic has came through here many times before, but I have been reading different forums and looking around on ebay and I am a bit confused. My low beams dont work and as I am sure you know they are H.I.Ds. I found a kit for 300 bucks that includes the ballasts and everything, then i found some kits for around 30 bucks. Why such a price jump?! I am a bit sketchy about a $30 H.I.D kit on ebay, but if someone on here has some experience with one of these kits can you send me a link to one of them? Dont want to waist 30 or 300 bucks.

You know you need adapters too right? The 9006 bulbs don't attach to the headlight housings otherwise. That's what usually causes the $300 kits to cost so much.

I sell the adapters for $50. I can also sell you a fully plug-and-play kit complete with soldered-on OEM Ford harness connectors. The full kit is about $160.

I had used xentec for awhile now , I had no problems with them on my charger and had them for a year, I have them on my lincoln ls fogs and they recently blew out cause it flooded and they got wet , im in the process of having them replaced under the warranty, If u decide to go this route id get 2 kits , just to have a spare so you wont even be HID less

Thanks,I will contact you privately

Do those require an adapter or anything on top of the $36?

They all need adapters. There are no other bulbs made that secure to the housings in the sad way that the factory 9500 bulbs do.

You'll also need to cut and splice the new ballasts into your factory wiring, since they use different harnesses.

What year is your mark viii? Didn't see you mention it..I assume either its a 96 LSC or 2nd gen if it has factory HIDs..if so you'll have to cut and splice the kit in to your headlight wiring harness to bypass the stock balast..these kits are designed to plug into the halogen bulb wire connector which your doesn't have.

If you're talking adapter, i presume o.p. has 96 LSC or gen 2's? for gen 1's, lows are 9005s and highs are 9006s?
I didn't use adapters for other of my base 96's....VVME 9005 4300k looks great, plug and play, a bad relay caused flickering, but that's gone..the other kit is a cheap 'AutoVizion" from the auction site which is not very bright at all- downright dim, $30 wasted; I'm about to replace it with a Kensun per Terry's recomendation

o.p. consider splicing wires to keep lows on with highs

98lincmk7lsc makes the proper adapters pm him. There are no kits that plug into your factory harness meant for the original sylvania HID bulbs. I don't know exactly which wires need to be cut and spliced into the kit but if I were you I'd add a 9006 bulb connector to whatever wires you chop off so that way the hid kit can be plugged in and removed if needed, rather than hard wired in.

Read through this thread, it covers most details with converting a 2nd gen over to aftermatket hids

I have a 1997. Does anyone make a direct fit kit?can someone send me a link for the adapters?

This^

It'll take up to 2 weeks once I receive payment, since I have to order the bulbs and ballasts, and then I need to solder on the new harness connectors.

This will be 100% plug and play.

So once you buy the adapters its just a matter of buying one of the hid kits on eBay and splicing the wires into the factory wiring harness?

Yep. You'll need to tap into the harnesses BEFORE the factory ballasts.

Here are some pictures for you.

I use the Xentec with no issues, mines a Gen2 and was just plug n play. Since my nose is a Gen 1 I had to make rings for the low beams.
3/8 Plexiglas and the foam sleeve supplied with the bulbs.

Took about 20 minutes to make both with a dremel tool.

Everythings so dusty ;( whole car is being sanded at the moment lol

What did yours plug into? The connector for the original 9500 bulb was completey different than that of a halogen 9006 or 9005 bulb connector which is what these kits come with.

Oh.. forgot when I did my front end swap Bill cut all of the Gen2 bulb plugs off and soldered on Gen1 bulb plug harnesses
