I am Pissed! :bash:
Some @$$hole hit my car today at work, and then left without reporting it or telling anyone. I found out who it was, one of the transport trucks drops off cars for the dealership next door, but I'm still pissed about it.

Its one thing to hit someones car and then find them and apologize or leave a note with some insurance/contact info. But to hit their car and then leave, to not take the responsibility for what they did, accident or not, is just plain wrong, and that's what pisses me off the most.

Anyway [/rant], here's some pics... (since we're all a bunch of picture whores around here :p )

I'm pissed just lookin at it. What a dick. You just can't have anything nice without someone messin it up for you.

Dude..... there is a simple solution....

Go to the dealership that was getting the delivery, look for a blue car with damage and your paint on it, take pictures of it, walk into the dealer's manager's office and demand restitution or you will see him in small calms court.

Don't be the victim.... be the plaintiff.

Know how you feel caME out to my car last sunday and the drivers mirror was hanging. I had to order a new one. BASTARDS

I work at the dealership. See there are 2 dealers owned by the same company right next to each other. One is Mercedes/Saab (the one I work for), the other is Toyota. Both share the same parking lot for their employees, which is also the lot where all of the new cars for both dealers are dropped off when they come in on the trucks. The first thing I noticed was there was a huge slick of hydraulic oil on the ground right by my car. I thought someone had come along driving stupid, hit the brakes and went sideways and clipped me, but after I looked a little closer at the paint color and the direction of the marks I figured out that whoever hit it did it from the other direction from the spill. The trucks that drop off cars for our dealership are bright blue, just like the paint, and the frame rails of the trailers are right at the same height as the marks.

So I went in and asked if there had been any drop offs for Toyota this afternoon. One truck at about 2:30, which was between when I got back from lunch at 1:30, and when I went down to my car at about 3:30 to get a tool out of the trunk. That was the only delivery today. I found out who had checked the cars in and found out that yes, it was a blue truck that dropped them off, and he had unloaded right in front of where my car was parked.

So I know who did it, it really has nothing to do with the dealership itself, although I did find out that if the transport company doesn't honor the claim, there is company coverage for vehicle damage caused on the premises by work related incidents. Either way it'll get fixed, but obviously id like it to be paid for by the one who's responsible for it.

just to give the benefit of the doubt... car haulers are pretty big... maybe he didn't realize he hit your car?

Or maybe he did and he's just a c0ck

And the estimate comes in at......

$1115.03. Not bad for a scrape, but the bumper did actually break, and even though you can hardly tell, (and its probably fixable), why should I settle for anything less than brand new right?

The trucking company is trying to put me off though I think. I called today and they still hadn't "questioned" the driver who had the drop off yesterday afternoon. The customer relations person I'm talking with is at least nice about it though, he not trying to deny that they did any wrong doing, and was actually very apologetic that they hadn't made as much progress as they had planned since I called the first time. I still have hopes that this can be resolved in a civil manner, without me having to get :q:q:q:qty on someone.

Possible, but unlikely. There was a spill of hydraulic fluid or oil of some kind back in the lot near where this all happened, and there are a lot of big truck tread tire tracks snaking around like he had to try 3 or 4 times to get backed up so he could turn around.
I didn't pay the tire tracks much attention until today, but they're visible in this shot that was taken yesterday with the others.
On the left side of the spill they're the most visible.

i would say this "the truck completely ripped off the chin spoiler i had on the car, you'll have to replace that as well", lol. i'm just teasing. someone hit my car and i got my whole rear bumper painted so it turned out to be a good deal for me. always an up side to things

Cha-ching! $$$ Money in the bank! Got a call from the transport company today ,and the driver admitted fault for it, though he'd said he "couldn't tell if he'd hit anything", but there were fresh scrapes and silver paint on the side of the trailer. Faxed them the estimate and they're gonna cut me a check and stick it in the mail.

Awesome! Glad to hear there are still some honest people still left. It's always better when dealing with someone with any shred of integrity :D

i need this to happen to me.. hah jk but my front bumper is pale instead of shiny like the rest of the car.

That isn't my definition of integrity!!! He should have checked and made an effort to contact the owner, or leave his contact information. It's not integrity when it takes getting caught to fess up! Army's definition of integrity is "do what's right, Legally and morally". I think that sums it up pretty well

OK. Good point. He should've done the right thing from the get-go. But I still give him points for being cooperative, and making it right.

Don't worry dude that will buff right out. (Comment made by the :q:q:q:q:q:q:q who hit my car the last time. To the tune of over $4000.00 worth of damage. Some people just don't care.

Well... a week later the check finally shows up. Didn't know it took that long for mail to get from Baltimore to Charlottesville. (4 hour drive at night)
Now I get to see how long it takes an out of state check to clear the bank! :D

I think you missed the part that he did not think he hit anything until he looked at the transport when asked if it was possible that he hit the car. Sounds like an honest driver to me. If you ever had to maneuver one of these things where dealerships specify to unload, you would understand that unless there is a major hit, the driver is unlikely to know that he scraped something.

Relieved to hear the company is making things right, when does your LS go to the shop?

I've been driving a rental all week, a Jeep Commander, what a tank, heck I coulda run over a car and not known! However, I was sitting in it and a guy pulled up beside me, opened his door HARD in to the passenger door of the Jeep...he was sooooo lucky that I was not in Tux, my Mark, but then again, I wouldn't have parked Tux remotely close to anyone or anything...funny though, I park in the last spot ,in the furthest location from anyone only to come out and see another hot car beside Tux...hehe girlfriends ;) and yes, I get jealous lol.

Nate - love your avitar!

Man, that sucks, I must've missed your thread. At least you've been able to contact people and get things underway, check my other thread for details if wanted.

Shop? Shop nothin! there's no shop around here good enough for me to let them touch my car. :p Ive got a friend who does damn good custom paintwork on bikes, who's gonna paint the bumper for me on the side. He's even gonna mix the paint for me so it'll be a definite match. I might also get him to do the rocker panels and rear valence if I'm feeling too lazy to do them myself.

In the mean time though I cleaned the blue paint off and hammered out my license plate so it doesn't look so rough. If it weren't for the deep gouges on and around the fog light id just leave it.
