springs would be cheaper, easier, and less to worry about in the long run. Air bags would have a better ride...(thats about the only positive I can think of)
Air bags are great... until they start causing problems. If you have the money to keep putting into them and slowy replacing all the bags and the compressor then stay with them if you like.
If you want a more firmer ride better handling in the corners and be done with any of the problems or repairs that the air ride system has in store the go to the springs.
I have 3 Mark VIIIs I've done conversion on 2 of them one standard 1 lowered. The ride of the lowered conversion is more sporty and rougher. The ride of the standard is not much different from the air ride but except it is firmer.
Personally I feel love the air ride while it's working, but after 100K miles and when the air ride starts to wear out it's time for the springs.
