Ya, so I converted my halogens to HID. Very happy, etc.

But then I saw these on eBay. For the price I could not go wrong. They arrived today. They pretty much look like they do in the pics. They need some good polishing and I will separate the lenses to clean the reflective material which looks to be in perfect shape. I think I will take the adapters off my halogens on these so I can mount 9005s. I think that will work, not sure til I look.

unity dont try to clean the chrome inside, it doesnt like to be touched AT ALL seriously, in hid lenses or halogen lenses. even a microfiber towel with water on it will take chrome off the inside of the housings. i would just buff the lenses and leave it at that or you may end up wrecking that 88 dollar killer steal!!

But there are nasty spots inside one of em :(

Looks like condensation was let go for too long.

yup i see it and if you touch those spots they will instantly turn white, those spots have damaged the chrome they wont wipe off, you could put a piece of trimbrite there though, but if you wipe that kiss the chrome good bye. thats why i got my driverside hid housing for 15 bucks, because it was the same way, it had to be rechromed but for 15 bucks could i really say no!!!
if you want to fix it, you'll have to get some trimbrite, or just leave it, but with clear lenses its hard not to notice that, i know it would bug me too!

Well I cleaned them up. I took a soft toothbrush to the spots on the low beam and used secret cleaning agent and they came off and the chrome is still there.

As old as they look, after cleaning they look really nice. The lenses are not fogged, they are covered in a wax? I will take a buffer to em and clear up the lenses before I go after more of the spots.

Is there a way to get to the HID side? If I pop put the diffuser can it go back in?

Ya. Think I will do one of two things. Clean them up and sell or install and sell my neat perfect halogens. Im going to try to find a finishing shop to polish them up.

nice score.

ive been watching for some HID housings but slacked off in the last month.

well you havent looked on here i had my whole set up on here vr4, lsc housings, ballasts and bulbs for $450 sold to Billcu from lod. i got my housings for $60 shipped, but i had to re finish the inside of the driver housing. i sold it all because i have a pair of halogen housings fittied with 6000k hid's going in my green 93, i already did this to my black 93 and the aftermarket lights are way brighter and nicer driving them the factory hid's.

OMG $88 for 2 housings

hold on,i have to go kick the dog or something,

you SUCK!!

just kidding,good find

but i have watched for so long and did not see those.

They were only posted for about 4 minutes before I used the buy it now :)

Jamie, you really think the hid retro kit in a halogen is better?

more than i wanted to spend.

well if you keep you eye out, I picked some up 2 years ago for 50 bucks a side from car-part.com only because they were modified for halogen bulb's but HID's still can be used.

Than last year a friend and I raped a 96 lsc in Eau Clare. We and got the headlights w/ bulbs and balast for 150. all of witch need a little work but repairable.

I guess you have to go to the web site and serch again by your self
just click

1996
lincoln mark series
headlight housings
and you zip

then on the next page select left/right from 10/95 and it will show where in the country there is some.

Very nice find! How are you going to get the bulbs to fit? Factory HID's or try to use the aftermarket HID's you have allready?

I really like my aftermaket HID's in my new halogen housings. BTW, I think you were the first one to do the aftermarket HID thing. Thanks for telling us about it back when you did!:)

i got my hid's from japanimprtshop on ebay but after the last kit i got from him i will never deal with him again, one bulb was burnt out new in the box and i sent it back to him in 2 days and it took just over 3 weeks and tons of BS runaround with the guy before it finally showed up yesterday he got it back on the 2nd. who else sells the 9005 kits for around 90 bucks that you guys use?

I don't think i will deal with them again either. They took forever to ship, lied to me about when they were shipped and gave me crap advice when i had that flickering problem - tried to insist that my car's wiring was faulty even though i had already told them that i had put the standard lights back in and they worked fine.

they shipped to me super fast, a day and a half from cali to florida but when i had a problem, thats when he turned from jack rabbit to painted turtle.

Well screw them then! lol There is a couple kits now, just search "mark viii hid". The kits appear to be the exact same ones.

The flickering can be a bad ground with the ballast maybe?

I have a new halogen housing. I compared them, they are VERY different. I thought I could maybe just swap the lenses. That way I have a halogen back for the Mark HID look. But the stock halogens have a smooth backing, I am not sure that would work. Thoughts? Otherwise I will see what I can do to maybe retro the HID housings for an after-market kit. Not sure if thats worth it. They may be worth more left alone.

Yeah it was. Turborich gave me advice on grounding the ballasts and the problem was solved. The idiot vendors told me to check for power at my headlight sockets with a test lamp! - even after i told them that the normal lights worked! Lol.

You could make up some adapter plates to allow people with OEM HIDs to run the aftermarket kits, as long as you don't mind some DOT legality bla bla bla speeches from time to time! Lol.

Last time I got pulled over the cops said my HIDs look tasteful and compliment the car, so screw the DOT.
