theres no way guys, did anyone miss the fact that I loved my Ls. I just cant afford to throw away money every month having to have stuff that should'nt be breaking at 60,000 miles. How may maximas or any other cars are known for serious transmission work required starting at 50,000 miles? ( other than dodges) I had mine rebuilt, and as I drove away from the shop, my window reg went out, when I got that fixed then I had the car die and oh geeze, couldnt have guessed my spark plug wells were full of oil, and had to replace the iginition coils. No i didnt have to guess all I had to do is log in, compare my milage and year of car and see what problems others were having in order to forecast what was going to break down next.
I'm able to admit it...

A lot of people on this site suffer from the my car cost more so it has to be better issue. They fail to realize that all of these so called Jap cars are now built in America, by Americans, and are built to better and higher standards than the other so called American cars. If the original American cars were even close to the Jap cars in quality, even at their higher prices, they would sell. But they don't. I personally own a Mark VIII, a Ford van, A Dodge Ram truck, 2 Harleys, a Suzuki RM250 and a Suzuki 4 wheeler. I have owned all makes and brands of vehicles, and have liked most of them. I will not however put down someone elses choice in vehicles. The Lincoln LS has a proven track record of being an unreliable, problem ridden POS. Sure it looks good, and it may be classy, but if I wanted just good looks and reliability was not an issue, I would surely buy an LS, but for less money, I could buy a nice Lexus, or BMW, or Toyota, and I would keep some money in my pocket during the purchase and in the repairs.

Enjoy your new car. Have fun with it. And tell these Blinded by Bling LS losers to kiss your AZZ.
 
Screw all you people with your "Dont knock his choice" crap. He made a decision to post that he traded in his LS for a Maxima. This is a site that is supposedly full of LS enthusiast's. Did you really think there wasnt going to be someone who would disagree with his decision? Dont post something if you cant take the heat. I personally dont care what he bought, i made the comment of how gay it was for him to post hp and 0-60 time. Who cares? He obviously needs to point out that he thinks he made a good choice. Good for him. As far as repairs, i feel sorry for all you guys who have horror stories with your LS. I bought a used 2002 LS, put 25k miles on it within one year, traded it in with 88k miles and didnt have one issue AND got a great trade in price. Call me lucky i guess. I now have an '05 with factory warranty plus ESP so i could really care less if its prone to have problems. I'll get them fixed just like any car. As far as values go, its seems like most people here get upside down in their loan anyway, so regardless of future value your getting screwed. Bottomline dont post something and then cry about the feedback you get.

Resale "value" is based on sticker price, NOT what was actually paid for the vehicle. It is also irrelevent if you plan on keeping the car. If you plan on getting a new(er) car every couple of years, leasing is probably a better choice. So, an LS that stickered for, say, $45K actually sells for ~$38K. Resale is, say, $19K (KBB, 2003 w/35K miles). If you figure sticker price, resale is horrible. If you look at actual purchase price, resale is pretty average. The biggest thing killing resale values is the 0% financing. Who wouldn't buy new with "free" money vs. 6%+ for used??

The LS was meant to capture the 35+ age groub, according to Jim Rogers, Lincoln's Marketing VP. Lincoln even purchased a 5-Series as a benchmark. AFAIK, they still have it. The demise of the LS has nothing to do with it's timeless styling. It has almost everything to do with the dealer network. Dealers didn't know what they had in the LS and tried to push buyers from the LS into Navigators (very high profit margin) and Town Cars (high profit).

Most problem LSes are the 2000 MY cars. Haven't you heard to never buy the first model year of any car?? I did and bought a 2000 V6 anyway. Sure, my window regulator failed (supplier problem soon corrected) and the French made part in the trans failed at 90K miles. Both were warranty items (if the ESP was purchased). My LS has 128K miles; 99% of which have been trouble free. Do things break? Yep. A car is, after all, just a machine. Even the worshipped Toyota and Honda cars have problems. Our 92 Civic cured me from buying Japanese!

Doesn't Renault own a huge (like 45%) chunk of Nissan?
 
i had a 98 maxima for 2 yrs., didnt even have to check the tire pressure except when i put wheels on it. i love my ls, but i would trade it for a 04 and up maxima in a heartbeat.
 
hey alex good choice enjoy your new car and for those haters AKA fla***** well you know who you are - you must be a big bonehead really just becouse you dont like his dicision doesnt mean its a bad one and by the way i own a 2002 maxima 3.5 manual and i also have a 2004 ls8 with the nav and other than the nav the max is as relaible or even better than my ls in the reliable dipartment my max has over 100k in it since its my day to day car and my LS only has 10k and i have never had to take my maxima to the chop and the LS had been there twice - so dont knock it you player hater.....

Who's hating what? I could care less what he bought, thought i already said it. If he bought a Mazda and posted its horsepower and 0-60 times i would have said the same thing. If he likes a Maxima, go for it. My involvment with this thread was his posting of the hp and 0-60 time. I thought it was lame and that was my post. I have owned five different brands of cars now and i really havent had that big a difference between any of them regarding reliability. If dude if happy rocking his Maxima, hey i'm happy for him. Dont care. And your not even using the term player hater in a relevent manner. Dummy. Go do some homework, tomorrows friday maybe you'll have a pop quiz or something. Oh wait...your not 16 yrs old. Act like an adult.
 
Hey guy, speaking of going back to school you might want to check your spelling...What's wrong with being exited about a purchase and wanting to share information? You speak of being an adult but you'll be the first one to post immature comments that have no relevance. In other threads you spoke of being a professional...Professional Sanitary Engineer? Security guard? Vague, very vague...please get off your high horse, examine your self before pointlessly posting insults. And please before suggesting for someone to act like an adult, lead by example.
Thanks to all of you with grown up responses. As far as I understood this site was full of car enthusiasts that love their LS' I am one of them but that doesn't mean that I can't have common sense and appreciate other vehicles...remove your blinders and look at the big picture.
 
Congrats on the Maxima, I drive a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S as a daily beater. That car has been through hell and back in the last 2 years. I drive that car from Central Jersey to Brooklyn, NY 5 days a week. The car has 40K on it, and the ride is pretty good. That car goes through the worst potholes on the BQE. I have had not one problem with it, it starts every time and is pretty quick for a 4 banger. Also for a 4 banger it accelerates from 50-90mph pretty fast. Usually 4 bangers give out after 50 because they dont have enough torque. The Town Car is used when I go out with friends, or go on a date. I love Lincoln, its a connection to better times, when land yachts were king. The Maxima is a good car, it has an award winning engine the VQ35DE.

The only thing I hate about Lincolns is that they spoil me rotten, I have a hard time adjusting to the Nissan. Sometimes I end up driving the Town Car to work.

Mazda is sort of like the distant foreign cousin of Lincoln, just like Jaguar is the "distinguished" Harvard grad step-father of Ford recently married into the family..hiding the fact that he's broke down chump! ;)

Wow..your gonna rag on spelling and the NEXT sentence pull off a good one. But its ok to be exited about a car. Good job buddy. But the more all you poke fun and the more i irritate you guys the more fun you make it for me, how do you not realize that? And yes its in my blood to make fun of someone who feels the need to post hp ratings and 0-60 times to validify their purchase. Ok, sure you got me. I saw it and thought about fixing it but I didn't want to waste any more time. The problem here is that I'm not going around insulting people and telling them to grow up, just because they have a different opinion than me (you are). I'm just simply having fun with some idiot from Florida (You) that has to have the last word and be rude just for kicks. (Now I get to be a little rude) Like your friend said, I couldn't blame it on you; I'd say your “Mama” didn’t raise you correctly and you dad simply not there enough to make you a real man. Maybe this is time to talk to your parents and have them tell you about who you really are. Next time I'm in Florida, I'll stop by and say hi, I'm sure you'll be easy to find in "Liberty City" you'll be in the apartment with not doors or windows, but surely a nice LS will be parked in the front. I promise to continue paying taxes so you can have your food stamps, and trade them for crack, and so you can use the pay that you get from taco bell to pay for your car payments and internet.
