gold member???

Its not, I didn't even get a thank you when I signed up. I even offered to buy new servers for this site and give it a face-lift in exchange for being a Mod. Mods here are lazy so I let my membership expire. Just about all you get is a gold logo under your name and access to a few other forums that NO ONE posts in. Cool.

I've been here since this site opened, something like the 7th user registered. Never been a gold member. No interest.
 
The cost of a Gold membership also helps with the cost of upgrades to the site that Joey has to make. Also Gold members get an added discount from the vendors that advertise here. In my opinion it is worth it.

The mods here are not lazy by any means.
 
The mods here spend all of their free time deleting the Korean porn and Russian cellphone spam that relentless appears on these boards.

That's the job of a mod.

I think he means site administrator/owner and not moderators.
 
you also get free upgrade one step in frt from five star ford. 3 day for ground, 2day for 3 day rates etc.

About the gold membership, it's of course a choice. I come here alot, and have gotten a lot of help and valuable information from here. I figured I would give back to the forum, and this was a good way to do it.

Your pm box goes from 100 to 1000 messages max. That helps me out since I get a lot of pm's and am too lazy to delete them most of the time. I have 4 hundred something in there right now.

I am a gold member because I like it here.

As far as the Mods go I think LVC has the best.
Flag a post one will come and see wasssup.
You won't be treated like your in kindergarden.
 
Well you do get to see the hotie babe thread in the gold member forums that show the money shots :)
But the 40 helps keep the site running so every one can spam away. Plus it get you dicounts on cobra stars also :)
 
One of these days I'll go GOLD again!

I miss not being able to see what other users are doing. (useful for responding to threads - helps stop repeat info)

I'm just a lazy Mod ... get to spend my extra time chatting with members like PetesSaweet.

Gold Membership is what you make of it. Nobody pushes it on anyone. You get some extra discounts which are nice if you use the vendors on the site. If anyone isn't using Max for many of their parts you are missing out and the extra discount you get for being Gold from Max is really worth the $20 to be gold.

Many of the parts from Max cost close to the same price from the online sites like Summit or Jegs and very close to your local parts store... But the best is they are OEM ... the same parts that got you to 100,000 miles or more.

So if you want to be Gold then Hey thanks for supporting the site. If you don't that's great but don't be slamming the site or the membership.

Oh and you do get Peppermans favorite forum ...
 
For starters... The reason for Gold Membership is to help finance hardware and software upgrades for the website. For example, I plan to buy a new server for the site later this year. That alone is going to cost around $4k. (on top of the monthly costs for bandwidth, etc which are about $1200 a year) - I also am going to do a major software upgrade and site redesign. (Another $500 or so) --- so you see, its expensive to have a successful site like this, and Gold memberships help offset those costs.

In exchange for the Gold memberships you get discounts at places such as strutmasters, 5 Star Ford, LincolnMotorsport and LS Koncepts. Many times, a single purchase from one of these can more then make up for your membership cost.

Also, as far as mods being lazy. I have no idea what you mean. Our mods are not suppose to be censors. We delete spam and talk to members who maybe are getting a little out of control, but we really try to NOT censor your posts, instead believing you should be more or less allowed free speech.
