I'm back ... Well, that was a waste of time and money, not the type of operation I want to work for, specifics and condition of equipment changed when I got there, plus the load wasn't going to be ready for another 2 days.
Young start up company with limited experience, took him until 2:30Pm to pick me up from the hotel, I was ready to go at 6:30AM. Lots of BS involved, outer edge of steer tires worn down, not interested, jumped in a cab back to the airport and got another rental and drove 5hrs back home.
Total loss just over 300$ and 2 days worth of my time,
next time I'm going to need contracts up front and pictures of the equipment.
I like the "Independent Trucking" idea though. Bigger money, might look into getting a truck and finding a reputable load broker around here.
Lesson learned.
BTW: the Mazda 6 rides rather nice, easy on fuel as well.
