Gen2 Taillights Melting?

Those are pretty cool. You can't get them to switch?
 
Maybe since they share the same power wire and have the switched grond instead of the switched power. Maybe adding a resistor to the running lights will fix that. It's also the blue/black wire up front if you have a gen2
 
yup gen 2. ill try it in a few but i wanna wait til i get 2 more bulbs before i take the headlights out again.
 
I figured it out. No more bulb out message. I'll prob make a thread and post a pic tom when I get all the resistors to finish the LED tails finally. I have to re-do my harness, it's fugly right now.
 
OK, it's official, I just finished the wiring.No more bulb out warning. Fully functional LED tail lights with no error messages :cool:
 
I was under the impression that the error message would read no power consumption in both the running lights wire and brake wire but turns out it's only on the running light wire.You need to use a resistor in parallel from the power wire to the running lights wire to simulate the load of the filament bulb you took out, which I did do originally way back when I first got the LED's, but it didn't work.The reason it did not work back then is because I had this resisor wired in before the resistor that is in series on the running light wire and I was also using the wrong resistor. If this sounds confusing, just check out the thread I'll make tom, I'll make a quick little diagram on paint.
