Not the prettiest, but will do the job, and even comes with the hoses, filter, MAF, MAF adapter and clamps. If there is anyone out there still contemplating a GenI intake, buy this one.

I wondered the same thing...especially when I put mine in my '02.

However, I doubt using header wrapping makes any measurable difference. The rate the air would be flowing through the tube under normal driving conditions would make it impossible to heat any significant amount due to the intake pipe being "warm". A shield for the filer on the other hand might be worth it

as long as the wraps removable...im sure it would be fine underneath, chrome may be in bad shape, but that can be painted to look nice...I've always thought about painting mine
