I'm getting ready to do the repair posted in the Tech Article. I went to the Lincoln Parts dept, and they said the potentiometer, part number F7LZ14A605AA is a discontinued part. No Ford dealer had it. It's only unique to the Mark. Sucks if this part is no longer available.

Talk to Jamie. He can help on this issue

ya, it starting to suck for parts, ford sold me a lockcylinder clip and then next day call me to tell me it is discontinued so i have to go back and get my money

I replaced my whole column instead. I was lucky and found a low mile one.

i thought i read somewhere you could clean it......but dont remember how :shifty:

It can be cleaned and it's super easy, but I think Jamie cleans them up and resells them and I don't want to step on any toes. he's been through enough already.

There is a guy parting out a 98 in the parts section.

i dont clean anything when we get them if they work we sell them working, if they dont work we sell them as parts, i know how to clean them, but cleaning doesnt mean it will work, sometimes the potentiometer does die. its not worth my labor to take one apart and clean it just to sell it for 100 bucks or whatever they bring. i do have one though that is in perfect condition and it has the over extension cables added also. and gman, this isnt your first rodeo, you been into these cars long enough now you should know the only thing available for these things now is windshield wiper blades!!

lol, his signature says he's a parts guy, so how would that be stepping on toes? ;)

taking the column apart to get the potentiometer is no easy, cleaning the p.meter is easy, getting to it is anything but that!

when mine stopped working i just opended it up (easy) and manually ajusted it...turned it off and all is well..

Werd!! I know that. There are a very few parts left. Just not the ones I or we want. The real problem is, when Ford built the Marks, the BOM (Build of Materials are unique to the Mark, and nothing was used on any other vehicle.
