Well as some of you allready know i bottomed out badly awhile ago and screwed up my bumper to fender brackets. While the bumper is off im going to remove the old ballasts aswell...2 birds 1 stone type of deal.

So how do you remove the bumper?

Yes i searched but nothing really helps.

p.s. I know i can fix the probs w/o taking it off but i mine as well since im doing both the brackets and ballasts.. That and im 6'4" with gorilla hands. I need all the space i can get.

under the radiator is 4 bolts, 12 mm, few phillips screws around the front of the wheel wells and a few under where the inner liner meets the bumper, and remove both headlights and take off the 11 mm nuts on the bumper to fender brackets, 2 behind each headlight, and you have 4 nuts on the top of the grill through the header panel.

Check those bumper to fender bolts for rust before you apply a wrench to them. If they are, spray some PB Blaster on 'em and let them soak. As I recall, they're this style or something like it. The first time I took my bumper off, they were clean as a whistle and the nut came right off. The second time one was rusted bad and when I went to unscrew the nut, it was welded to the bolt and just spun, and ended up tearing up the slot that the bolt head sits in.

Jamie never has to deal with rust down there; we northerners do. :D

By the way, I never had to take the headlights out to get the bumper off, but I'll defer to Jamie's expertise. And just to clarify, the grille stays attached to the bumper.

good tips marcus. Thanks for the heads up!

Well i took the lower panel below the bumper off and was able to get the ballasts out..Easier then i thought. It was darkish in my garage so i'll deal with the bumper tamaro. Also plan on fixing some of my hid wireing connections to the main harness that have been bothering me...Solder, ect this time now that i have room. . The first time i did it i was working threw the square holes in the panel like a moron.

hey, you guys forget that i took mark VIII's apart in massachusetts from 99 to 2003 i know what rust is. and they rust down here still too, alot of cars we buy are not originally from florida, or people live on the water and salt does a number. i still deal with it, just not as often!!
