Hello everyone, This is how I install my angel eyes on my Gen 1 lights. as stated in the other thread,

1. I did the oven trick on my gray sealant headlight. 8 minutes, 250 degrees Fahrenheit. The black sealant (PITA) I cut it using a box type cutter blade. I ran the blade many many many times around the edges of the light, until I was able to pry the headlight. I separated the clear lens, black bezel, chrome reflector and the back housing.

2. I attached the Angel eyes to the black bezel using a clear silicone. I tried many times to find a different ways to attached the angel eyes to the chrome reflector, no luck. I think you can only attached the angel eyes on GEN1 lights to the Black bezel. I used a duct tape to temporarily hold the angel eyes in place while I put the silicone behind it.

3. At this time I replaced the yellow corner lens with the Alex7's clear corner lens, very nice :)

4. I ran the angel eyes wire thru the vent hole of the headlight.

5. I Hooked up the angel eyes power inside the vehicle, due to I want a separate switch to control it.

6. I ran and fish the wire to the passenger side firewall. I removed the plastic cover at the bottom of the windshield by the AC filter and you will see there's a sticky pad that is covering the hole to the firewall. I inserted the wires using a general purpose galvanized wire. insert the wires one by one. the hole is kinda tight. I used a 16AWG wires, Red positive, black ground and white for the trigger switch. The wires came out under the passenger dash. remove the glove compartment door and you will see the wires that you inserted from the firewall.

7. I pulled the wires then ran it to the rear cigarette lighter outlet, where the rear AC vent is. no screws to remove in the AC vent, just pull it and it will come off. Tap the red and black wires using a soldering iron. Take note. I tap the power there due to it being live all the time. I then fished again the wires from the passenger side dash to the driver side dash where my switch will be placed.

Attached pics are also the switch button and Butyl rubber I used to re-seal the headlights.

did you use the gun to drill the hole in the dashboard?

I would like to Thank everyone here LVC'ers specially to DnyceLS, Alax7, Andrizzle, Soopa009, Ben'sLS, who gave information about these angel eyes installation.

@02LincLS, negative. no drilling required. for some reason there's a hole already there covered with a sticky pad. I didn't realize my pistol was there lol. When I was working installing the angel eyes, it was like 2 am and my garage door is open.

Great write-up col! This will be very helpful for others trying to do the gen I angel eyes because there is such a lack of info on lvc about the install (only thing I could find was lskoncepts). Great work man. Hopefully have good pics of mine soon.

Do your angel eyes cause the radio display and the message center on the dash to dim? Mine are super dimmed and I can't even see them during the day.

Thanks Ben's LS, Yea I was thinking the same thing, so I did this for the Gen1 owners. Maybe they can add this thread to the sticky "please read before posting guide".

My angel eyes does not cause the radio or display center to dim. Maybe what I did by wiring it separately helps.

What are the diameters of those CCFL's? (Both low beam and high beams). I want to do this mod but unsure of the sizes.

Those are not CCFLs he's working with. Check out eBay for Umnitza's Angel Eyes. They should still have them on there somewhere. They are sold by Lightwurkz. You could go CCFLs but the LEDs like the ones above perform better in most categories, if not all of them.

Wow that's a whole lot of money. I'm trying to save up to get my tranny rebuilt.

You can get e36 rings if you're on a budget. That is what i have and they work great

From what i see on some cars around me, ccfl isnt that bright (especially in the daytime)

two thoughts,

first, there were so many places to get power a lot closer than where you did that you had to run past to get to the rear power port. the shorter the power wire and ground, the better.

second, lose those twist on wire nuts made for residential use before you burn your car down.

for the record, there have been times that i wanted to use my Springfield to drill a hole in a firewall

This is the one that took me forever to find a good power source, with out going to a lot of troubles. The connection I have now is working fine. Thanks for the heads up though. :D

I took off those residential twist on wire nuts, and use automotive wire connector.

The hole would be for the clutch cable on manual transmission cars :) Makes a nice pass thru for us A/T guys ;)
