I am planing to get gears in a month or so. still havn't decided which one I am going to get. Its either going to be 3.73s or 4.10s. Well, where should I buy these gears? and where do I go to install them? I know that my speedometer is going to change, where do I go to get that fixed?

BTW is it better to go for gears or UD pulleys? What are the pros and cons for the UD pulleys/

Thanks

Gears will make a huge difference, get the 4.10's. The best place is americanmuscle.com to get them for around $129.99 with free shipping. The UD pulleys will give you 10hp all through the rpm range but can be bad for the engine oil pump and for the alternator.

Which mustang year will fit our marks? I don't see Mark VIII gears over there. Plus Can gears be installed by your self? How hard is it to install them?

If you are installing gears get a tlock or else you are wasting your time. Besides you might as well do it all at once anyways.

Any Ford 8.8" gears will work. This pretty much means any V8 Mustang - the V6s had 7.5" differentials and won't work..

I would like to have 4.10s But I am going to go for the 3.73 because I travel 60 miles everyday on the Highway at 75-80 MPH.

Anyways They have the speed cal which would fix it, now all I need to do is where I should get them installed from. Reinhart is about 2 miles away from me, maybe I will go over their. BTW would an SCT fix the speedometer?

With the gen 2 you don't need any speedo fixes after a gear change.

The SCT done by Dennis will definitely be a big improvement to go with those gears.

I already have the SCT done by dennis, should I go back to him after I get the gears? Or it doesn't matter.
what are the 28 spline guts?

No you shouldn't need to get a reburn for your chip after you get gears as long as your shifts have been firmed up already and you have a higher redline. You need a 28 spline trac-loc/posi.

on americanmuscle.com, they have a 31 spline trac-loc for $449. I don't have that kind of money, do you know a better website where I can buy the 28 spline trac-loc/posi?
Thanks

Junk yards have tons of explorers with 28 spline 8.8 3.73 tloc rears in them... take the axles out and take the ring, pinion, and carrier. Tloc rebuild kits are about 40 dollars. This will run you about 100 dollars tops then you have to take it some where to be installed.

Read the axle tags before you take it apart though.

I got a used t-loc from an 01 GT, waiting on my gears and rebuild/install kit to come in...

I drove on the highway all the time... 3000rpm at 80mph, no big deal...

Hmmm.. 3000rpm at 80 with 4:30's?

I know of a guy with 4.10's who's churning a little under 3100 at 80MPH.

Your cars' tire diameter must be taller then stock then... Though, his are 17x9 inch cobra wheels wrapped in 245/40/17 Rubber.
