Hey all, as I stated before I am using my Lincoln as my sole transport now, and being in Michigan she will see WINTER. Now I also have the 3.73's and trac-loc, but I am wavering about putting them on because of my long commute to work in the winter. Does anyone on here have experience with this, and what would be your suggestion. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. I drove all winter for the last two winters in my Vic with 3.55's and a tlock and had no issues. If you stomp the gas with any gear in the snow your going to spin the tires.

I get around with 4.30's in my Cougar in the winter - yes I have traction problems, but haven't been in the ditch for years (and then it was from goofing around).

Go for it!

The traklok is going to serve you much better than an open diff..in the snow.
regardless of the gear ratio..

Agreed! My T-Lok in the LS gets through the snow with ease! that and snow tires :D

Shoulda added that too - have a posi of sorts in the car which helps getting going, and run dedicated winter tires.

the tires make the difference

I put a set of Goodyear Triple Treads on my Mark VIII and had no problems. The winter before that I was contantly stuck and spinning out

Haven't had the gears/trac lok in the winter yet but the car sucked with the stock gears/open diff so I cant see it being much worse. I'm more worried about the firmed shifts then getting started with the gears.

Don't be, unless you WOT alot on icy/snowy roads :burnout:.

I only had one scare with a shift in my heavily jmodded vic in the winter. I was on the gas pretty good and hit the 2,3 shift at 70 and it spun and kicked the car a wee bit sideways lol...

My car shifts very ahrd into 2nd and firm into 3rd and has stepped out in the rain but I was on the gas a little. I dont drive fast in the snow though.

I ran a stage 5 baunmann shift kit and 4.10's in the 95. No problems whatsoever in the winter. (this was before the repaint obviously)
