I found the fuse diagram posted here and in the manual. I seem to have extra fuses. My ABS light is on and the traction control is stuck off. I'm finally getting around to checking the fuses before I take it in.

Its blowing the 30A fuse. (see pic). I replaced it and it blew again. This fuse isnt labeled on the diagrams. Anyone know what its for? Everything seems to be working fine, minus the ABS/traction control. Its the only fuse I'm finding that's blown.

That said. Someone mentioned cleaning up the ABS sensors, that worked for them for the same problem. The ABS light being on was intermittent at first, so I'm thinking it would be something that wouldnt go so suddenly like a fuse. Any details on what I'm looking for and what to clean them up with would be helpful.

I would bet you your ABS pump is toast, if the trac loc is off and the ABS light is on. Check and see if you can lock up the brakes before the fuse goes or does the fuse pop as soon as you put it it?

The off light is on on the traction control button, if that makes sense. Not sure when the fuse popped, I started it up, drove around the block and checked it and it was popped. I'm not even sure what that fuse is for because its not labeled on any diagram.

If there is a fault in the ABS pump or circuit, the computer will cut off the traction control because its state will not be ready. The ABS controller handles the rear brake apply. Try replacing the fuse and see if your ABS light is still on.
I have a Gen2 and the fuse box is different so I cant tell you what fuse it is,I will look for one of my Gen1 books.

Well I took it in to a shop in Oshkosh. They werent able to pull codes on the abs because of that fuse that keeps popping. He recommended I change out the traction control module. If that's shorting out it'll pop that fuse. It might fix the problem completely or not. I hate this electronic crap in cars. I'm not even sure where it is, but he's going to show me when I stop in. Hopefully not too hard. I'm imagining a bracket with some plugs too it. A

Anyone ever change out their traction control module? Any tips?

Well I guess the abs is the same as the traction control module. Its under the battery, going tomorrow to rip one out at the junk yard. Hopefully the dealer was right about it being one module. The dealer wanted $800 for a new one, btw.

a little late but can be helpful in the future is to try unplugging the module if the fuse still popps the short is before the module. sounds like a hard short now the only thing is where????

thanks chicken. That's a great idea. I dont want to pay someone 16 hrs to go thru the electrical. For that price I'll just buy a winter beater to drive in the snow. I ordered the OEM repair manual, havent received it yet. Just saw that the electrical is a separate manual. Hoping the one I got has at least says what that fuse is. The owners manual lists it as empty.
