Yes I did search and couldn't find anything. I also went to http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/tech/lincoln-mark-viii/fuel-pump/index.htm for the installation procedures. Im installing the walbro 255. My problem is that the plastic pickup thing that goes on top of the pump(the thing with the tube) is not tall enough for the pump. The one pictured in the instructions is different from the one I have, its a bit taller. Is there a way around this or do I have to find that piece to replace? If I have to replace, where can I get it?

I have a '97 LSC.

Do you mean the filter screen?

Where did you get the pump from?

Should have done some research and got the SVT Focus pump which is a direct fit in the stock basket. Just gotta splice 2 wires and you're good to go.

The basket is not the problem.... the top piece (the two round things) doesnt go all the way down because it is stopped by the pump outlet. I just want to know if there is somewhere I can get the taller piece.

kid, it sounds like this isnt fitting onto the top of the pump. never heard of this problem is there any way to set the pump in lower?

The pump is as far down as it goes. That plastic piece is different on mine. The one that is in the pic are maybe 1/4" or more taller than mine. Also if you look at the ones in the pic they have the plastic coming out the side on the middle. Mine dont have those either. Ill try posting a pic tomorrow.

Had same problem...

That Walbro pump "retrofit" in a Gen II is bull:q:q:q:q I hacked up my basket and ended up throwing the F***in pump in the garbage.
Ordered a 2003-04 Focus SVT pump p/n 3S4Z-9H307-BC , spliced 2 wires and back on the road. Perfect fit.
The Walbro 255 IS TOO TALL ! Why do people tell others to buy it. Got mine from JD too.

i have a stock pump out of 97 if you cant get that to work right, i'll sell it cheap with the sending unit and all, 100% complete i just took it out yesterday, it works cause i drove the car to my shop so i know its good!!

My original pump still works. The only reason I'm changing it is because I'm doing a tranny swap and have the gas tank out.

This is what I have:

Wow... I can't believe I didn't notice that...

Me either, the guy's talking about clearance problems, it's the first thing to be looking for. :p

Anybody else agree with the following? : Walboro for gen 1, Focus for gen 2??

I'm curious because I'd like the sending unit to still read correct and have yet to upgrade the pump in my Gen 1.

Ok, call me an idiot by why does it look to me like the entire sending unit is being replaced and NOT just the pump.

Also, why not re-used the lower part?

I guess I am confused here, pumps are cross-compatible, sending units may not?

The gen 2 has a completely different pump basket and sending unit.

The Walboro 255 fits fine in a gen 1, where the SVT Focus pump fits nicely in the gen 2 basket is what I've gathered.

Well, I didnt have a problem fitting the walbro into the basket... was quite easy actually. My problem is that the top piece is different in my assembly. I just wanna know if there is somewhere I can get that top piece separately. No mark viii's located in nearby junkyards:(

Does the the old top piece not work?

Why not just replace the pump itself?
