Whenever I hit the brakes I hear a noise coming from the front suspension. Hard to describe, sounds like possibly the control arm bushings but hard to say. Any known culprits for something like this so I can check more closely when I get it up in the air?

All of the front bushings can make noises when you brake. The front end lurches downwards when you brake so anything that moves or compress can be the source. struts, motoro mounts, bushings, ball joints. How many mile son your car?

Good troubleshooting plan

Get up to about 140 then slam on brakes. Usually pin points Problem.

Sorry sounded funny and I don't really have an idea besides all those bushings which you can see by crawling under or getting it on a lift.

ball joints are the usual suspect.
my car would wander all over the road under breaking.
new ball joints, tight as a drum.

at 120k, you are due for a front rebuild anyway.
