We all hate them, yep, but that freakin' ugly thang just saved my front bumper.

Some dumb bitch rolled back in her Kia whatever-rectangular-chitbox car into me after stopping (in stop-and-go traffic).

I got it on my dash cam, but I won't show it cause I almost freaked out. Thought it was ME moving forward :shifty: :Bang

Nah. I didn't scream, just swore, pumped the brakes, put it into Park, hand brake on in a split second. I remembered reading about someone's brake pedal going right to the floor, which played through my head as she was rolling back.

She did hit me very slightly, but there is no damage.

Yeah I want to the see the video!! No vid or I call BS! lol....that or I'll drive up to meet you so I can see it! lol

Wanna see the vid. And just out of curiosity why the cam and how do you have it all wired in. Not a bad idea as long as what happens does it in front of your car

I always like the idea of cams/voice recording stuff in cars. In an accident you got tape. Being pulled over for a moveing violation/profiling , tape.

I'd like a mini cam in back, front and a cam angled at the dash/side window with voice recording.

If i had that setup it would've saved me 5k.

No vid, sorry guys. She was about 1.5m in front of me.

But here is a screenshot (right before the bump):

Mount:

Got it for $89 bucks. I also bought a wide angle lens for it off Amazon ($40). The mount is some el-cheapo kit for phones from Walmart. I made the base bigger and attached velcro to both the mount and camera.

It only does 1h of recording, 2h battery life. Kinda crap but I don't drive a whole lot. Only charges via USB. Definitely not ideal but adequate for me. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Just curious what is your motivation of putting that in? Except for planning on an accident and wanting your own evidence.. Its a neat idea and I think it would be kind of cool to watch it

The motivation could be one of many.

Proof of what really happened at that intersection when the guy plowed into you because he rand a red light, but said it was green.

Proof that you didn't pull out a firearm and point it at someone (I was actually accused of that one once).

Or, the time when that cop gives you a ticket for doing 20 over the speed limit, even though you were only doing 5 over.

etc. etc. etc.

The cameras I like are the twin lens setup, one facing front and one facing the driver (wide angle). They record both video streams at once. They have G sensors and GPS coordinate overlays. Good for 32 hours and they loop. When the memory gets full, they keep recording from the "beginning" again.

@frogman. Where do you get something like that and do you know how much that runs money wise?

even better is an iphone 4 since it does 720p and has 16gb worth of disk space.

Ill probably invest in a mount since i just got one.

Frogman, I assumed that I just wasn't sure if something specific happened that he was motivated to install it. I wish I had one of those when I had a taser pointed at me when I was seat belted in my car and the officer was yelling stop resisting arrest!

Off subject sorry but,

4 officers in my hometown killed a man off his medications who was living in a new construction home with a taser. They all tased him after he didn't comply and continued to do so until the man was killed. OR in my opinion he was murdered. 2 of the officers in that incident were the ones with tasers pointed at me while I was sitting in my car. Lets just stay long story short they were way out of line. I have absolutely zero history of any physical violence, not even a disorderly conduct. So they had no reason to use the tactics they did. Honestly I was scared for my life at that point and thats wrong.

Those cameras are really nice, might be a good investment for myself. Although I haven't had to many run ins with the local officers since I've gotten my Lincoln.
