I have a 97 Mark and just replaced the upper and lower control arms along with bushings and ball joints, now there is a clunking/popping noises coming from the front every time i turn left or right, which is making my steering wheel crooked, but as soon i i turn again the steering wheel is straight. Does anyone know what this could be? took it to my mechanic and he said everything was tight and belle tire did the alignment with no problem.

Hows your sway bar end links? You replace them too? If not, could be them. (they clunk when worn) Other possibility is tie rod ends. Get someone to steer and take a look.

Thats what the mechanic at a shop told me when i called to check the sway bar end links. and when i look under there what am i looking for?

Well, first, get someone to steer, short and sharp, side to side, then get them to steer lock to lock. While they do that, get under there and see if you can 'pin point' the clunking noise, look for excess play in the ball joints, check for split rubbers etc.

Any joint that is 'clunky' or has a split rubber boot or excess play needs replacing. (replace joints in sets to save further aggro)
