Free Gen I Alpine system Subs, enclosure, & amp

Wow... that sucks... I was looking to upgrade the sound system in my LS...

What exactly were you wanting to do?

Aftermarket deck? aftermarket speakers?

There are alot worse cars out there..

You can run an aftermarket deck and still have all of your stock system work..

You can also run aftermarket door speakers 4 (5x7's) with factory subs.

I have to run new door speakers regardless, the LS I'm working on has atleast 1 blown so far... I don't need 12's or anything... I'm ok with my 10's because of an adjacent counties noise ordinance rules. That enclosure seemed kind of interesting as my Gen 1 doesn't have them. Oh and as far as the system goes, yeah I'm replacing the head unit with a with an aftermarket DVD/nav.

I have 4 OEM door speakers if you are interested in them. I'm running focal components now, but there aren't really any good places to mount tweeters in the doors, so I put the tweets in the front pillars, which sucked ass to run the wires thru the boots.

Most of the audio install is in this thread.

I just went thru the whole ordeal, so if you have any questions, I bet I can help you out

probably a little late for this, but using an old car antenna fed through the boot makes pulling new wire super easy, the key is the right antenna, you want one of the newer thinner flexible ones, also you want it to have the ball at the end so it doesn't poke through, also makes it easier to move the end of the antenna around to help get it in to the boot in the first place.

or

if dealing with the boots is too much of a pain, there is plenty of room above the glove box for the crossovers to be mounted, then use the OEM wire to feed the woofers, then run new wire to each tweeter all while staying inside the car.

I did use wire :) The problem is that the computer is in the kickpanel and I didn't want to disturb it, so I drilled holes in the kickpanel metal and ran the speaker wires thru a grommet there. No matter how you do it, running the wires thru the door jams is a bitch and leads to sore, bloody hands lol

Right on man... and I thank you for the helping hand, I really appreciate it. This sort of thing would have helped when I was redid the cabin speakers of my Eclipse but that forum wasn't really helping much. Odds are I'm going with an Kenwood Excelon cabin setup, but I'm still looking for the right head unit... plus I want to dapple in doing what Reaper76 did with his unit to show the Lincoln symbol.

I looked through those pics and what did I see? You missing the chrome pc for your center vent.....haha

I like the install.....how's it sound?

Damnit!! I remember finding that little piece on the floor and having no idea what it went to :( That's going to drive me crazy

Strange, I was missing the same side chrome decorative piece for the center vent when I got my LS. The whole little slider that pops into place on the vent control was an $8 dollar stealer part and they had it in stock. They must pop out a lot on the passenger side.

Sweet. I figured i'd have to find an entire used vent assembly.. I'll drop by the dealer tomorrow

It was a little cussing getting it in. The back vent tube separate from the front panel.

While you have that vent assy out and on the bench, now would be a good time to re-enforce
the cheap mount for the screws that hold the Fuel and Reset buttons, which always seems
to break for everyone. Build up around it with epoxy, make it thicker and stronger.

Eventually the left side of those buttons will cave in because the screw mount in the back breaks.

Already took care of that with some fiberglass resin :facesjump

Just to update my part of this thread lol.... I have several members that are interested. I am just waiting to hear back from Farrarii to confirm if he wants them.
