Last night, lights started getting dim, no codes thrown, lights finally almost out, battery light comes on, check charging system error pops up, car dies, strands me two hours from home, $200 plus AAA tow costs for 150 miles and now I guess I need an alternator, cause battery is OK.
I'd like to put a heavy duty, polished alternator on it- reccomendations?

AAA towing cost? ive had my car towed from Houston to Waco ( 180 miles) for free just because i was a AAA member

yeah its like $12 a month now i think, my parents have it..-shrug-

I heard they got that $75 a year thing by someone but I didn't believe it...hope it's true

I have the one service that cost $80 per year. But they only offer 100 free towing miles not bad. I should of gotten it with my 1st car.

I have had mine for 3 years, the 220amp is about 220 bucks or so-they also have chromed, shipping was around $12 I think. Good outfit I got mine fast and replaced a perfectly good OEM with this one just because I got a new 1000 cca battery and wanted a better alt to go with it.

Get that car going man. No excuses. We'll see you there. And from my personal experience, I ran a brand new alternator from the parts store and it lasted a year. So I bought the cobra alternator from Ford and it works great and has a 12 month 12000 warranty. I would go Ford for the price difference. And you gotta remember that the original one lasted how long? Just my opinion.

And replace that battery with a good interstate if it's weak at all. INTERSTATE FTMFW!

How late was it??? Find a alt at a NAPA or a Advanced Auto, or have AAA tow you to one, takes like 5 minus to change...(thanks Driller ;) ) alt's are easy!!!!

AAA - I wont go without it!!!

+1

Got to 5 star ford Max is the man.
I think there is a Member discount, plus gold member discount.

Lifetime warranty is cool. Not being broke down on the side of the road is also very cool. I try to do his less then once a year. I'm just sayin.

agree agree - but how many Advanced autos in a 10 mile radius of anywhere are there - lots!!!! is all Im saying. I find it easier to drop in swap an alt, then to call, get towed, pay out the butt n blah blah blah...when I can be on the road for ....uhhh NOTHING!!!!!; cept torqing a breakerbar....

introduce me to a alt that never breaks down...I will marry it....(from a woman who has replaced....lets just say LOTS of alts.....)

Have you bought one from Max?

As you already know, your box store alt. will go out at the worst of time.

+1..... 140 cobra ftw

Max Max Max
He will sell you your dream Alt.

alt

Maxx has it on the way to meet me in KC wed. Cobra alt, drive belt, new pigtail. I have a Gold AAA membership- first hundred miles is free- after that its up to $3.75/mile. It was 1030 at night in Nebraska City- middle of nowhere- 25 degrees and dark. Best choice at the time.
Thanks all and seeya at Hooters!

No I have not bought an alt from MAXX, but yes, anything from MAXX is a dream....INCLUDING MAXX!!!!! Despite the liftetime warrantee on Tux's I might get him one from Maxx the next time his needs replaced.

Doo itttt nowww!!!

Before your on the side of the road.....coming home in a storm....from out of town.... been there done that right? :D

And if you ask me these cars should have a higher output alternator in them so it doesn't have to work as hard. Especially if you're still airridin.
