So...I have been thinking for quite some time now on upgrading my fuel pump to the Ford GT. But first i wanted to know if the gain when I get my SCT from ILLS is going to be worth it.

Also, is the Fuel Pump from a Mustang GT or a Ford GT? and could i have an accurate Part No.

Thanks in advance

BTW a how-to install thread would be nice

I can tell you that if your fuel system is weak, you will get pinging from a leaner AF ratio. I just had this issue. Well, I'm having this issue as we speak. I just need to get and install the damn pump. Check out the last 1 or 2 pages of the ILLS disappeared? thread.

The part is a Ford GT supercar pump. NOT the mustang.

There is a problem with the pump fitting in the basket though. You'll have to cut off the filters at the bottom of the pump, or cut the basket. Now, cutting the basket is to me a worse idea than ccutting the feet off the pump. The worst that can happen with cutting the filters off the bottom of the pump is if you have dirty gas/tank, that sediment could get sucked up into the pump and kill it. But you do have a separate fuel filter that would catch anything before it gets to the engine.

I do not believe that is the case - it's unlikely that you are dropping below 40psi at the injector nozzle - meaning your pump can deliver all you need.

There is no point in upgrading a fuel system unless you are adding more air - add more air, then add more fuel and retune to maximize the spark at an acceptable AFR.

It is highly unlikely your pump is not driving enough fuel to the tiny stock injectors. Remember - people are running 100shot of N2O without upgrading their fuel systems.

Instead of buying a GT pump, just buy a new pump and swap it into the basket - http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/ can sell you any pump, pickup orientation, sock, and connectors.

Adding more fuel and running rich will decrease you hp.

Okay, guess I wan't being as specific as I needed to be.

Stock fuel pump is fine IF it is in good working condition. The stock tune runs a very rich AF ratio, which can hide a weak fuel pump. When you load your custom tune, AF ratios are leaner.

Quik is right in that a properly operating fuel pump can deliver enough fuel on the custom tune.

What I was saying is that if your fuel pump is weak (on it's way out, not able to deliver the commanded AF ratio), then you will notice it with the tune loaded.

You don't need a new pump in every case, but given that you have a gen1, you may be in the range where a fuel pump can start to fail.

+1 on ape's fuel pumps. I like the idea of a pump that fits properly, with the sock, in the basket without having to modify.

Sorry to revive this old thread but I didnt see anything listed for an LS on that site Quik listed? Also, does anyone have the part number for the GT Supercar fuel pump?
