I was heading to a friends near my house last night around 10pm. The road between our house is a 45 mph pseudo county highway with 1 stop sign. I am rolling off the stop light when the vic keeps right with me!

Now I am a pretty spirited driver so when he was staying with me I started to get a big grin on my face. I have yet to have someone run me in the Mark!

Well I hammered on it with no prep (T/C on, O/D on) and we are dead even will about 100. We roll to the stop sign... I turn off the above and try again... NOTHING! Won't go again... BOO!!!

Just wondering if this is what was supposed to happen?

Are you sure it was a Crown Vic and not a Mercury Marauder?

A well running Mark should have DESTROYED a stock Crown Vic.

It looked like a police car...

My car has 20's which I know slows it down as well as the tranny acting up (Needs a new convertor and my shift kit... )

I guess I might need a tune but my car feels like its running strong!

I don't know what he had done...

Ah, ok...

20's and a bad tranny / converter helps explain.

I'd be inclined to do a full 'tune up' and check fuel pressure etc. when you can. A weak, original fuel pump will not help your cause.

Well I have a MOUNTAIN of parts to install on this car so it will be part of that process :)

I know I have a 255 to go in and a 3500 stall to go with my Baumann kit... Then the driveshaft, rear gears... then finally the supercharger... sprinkle in the misc suspension part and fast bag system and we have my car!

WOO HOO!

I had one, I didn't mod it at all. When you are all in a poor little farm town, it works. beats your friends in their old cars.

When I said "with enough money", i guess I should have clarified, I was thinking supercharger.

My 02 P71 will consistently run 3-4 tenths slower than my 94 Mark VIII. Both are stock, the Vic had taken 130k of police abuse and 30-40k of my abuse at the time. I've been told I have a factory freak Vic, I dunno.

Heh sorta on topic there's a primer 98+ Vic running around here that I can almost guarantee has spray... he put about 2 buslengths on my 93 Mark from 40-90.

I drive a police interceptor for 8 hours a night for the last 15 years, When I get in the Lincoln to go home every day Its much faster. A true interceptor package has a 3.55 gearing which may help it get off the line but they run out of steam quick. Now one that has been bought privately and modded I guess could keep up, but not a run of the mill 130k x-patrol car. I know in Detroit, where I work the last new cars they bought were '07's and they were noticeably slower than the 05's.

I push a cruiser too, 12 hour shifts. (4 days on/off) and I can say the newer 06 Crown Vics are slower than the older 02 cars. I remember when I picked up my 02 it spun the tires and almost chirped second before I loaded about 500 pounds of cop stuff in the trunk... ;)

Awesome cop car, amazing how much abuse they take.

My Mark would walk on both of them though...

Thats one of the reasons I like the Mark, because I have seen these 4.6 motors run 24/7 with no rest for well over 100k miles with little maintenance, and oil changes that are few and far between. The major weak link is the transmissions. All of the 07 fleet had trans failures at about 20 to 30k miles. Even all the older vics I have driven I think when I got on the job we were still driving 93's and the brakes sucked on those. All of the years I have driven them the transmission always go first on these cars.

My parents had a 92 Crown Vic (non P71) that they sold at 260K miles, original trans (worked perfect) only thing he ever changed was plugs/wires. He kicks himself for selling that thing.

Thats what I like, these motors will run forever! Once I did see a spark plug shoot thru the hood of one of the CV's, that was awesome.....:D

That would be pretty sweet, I would be diving for cover. maybe shoot somebody and blame it on a flashback! Dang PTSD :D

HAAHAHAH!

He must have something done to it cause my Mark is not laggin out...

I have to clarify though... We got into it on a roll and I don't know if the car downshifted now that I think of it:)

I want another go at him!

that what i think about police Car :D
