I figgured out how to do it with help from a fellow LVCer.

all you do is scrape off the glue on the back of it and eventually you will see grey primer. You then sand it down, and you see the black paint below it.

After you sand down the black paint the emblem will be clear, you can then sand the grooves that make the lincoln star, ( this was a pain in the ass) that is not a actual piece of chrome it is just some kinda paint.

BAHM!! then you have a all clear emblem to paint what ever you feel.

For the sanding I was told to use 800 but I found that starting at a lower grain and moveing up to 800 after the paint is removed helped alot more.

Thanks 01lssport for the start of this idea you gave me in wich I moded to paint the "Lincoln Star" as well.

Actually I stumbled upon figguring it out by sanding to much thinking it was just a piece of chrome.

i would like to see a finished product.. im sure placing it back on wont be hard..

Didnt get to thet yet, I dont have my damn car but I imagine 3m or maybe even just gorilla glue if you dont mind it staying on. I dont even know what grill I wanna put it on, my Factory grill or my Mclaren.

But fyi, I painted the star red and the surrounding area black again.

For the red paint I used a touch up pen for "fine detail", and just sprayed the black on with some spray paint.

Oh and you can use paint stripper as well but youll need to wet sand the front very smooth and buff it with some meguires clear lens restorer afterwards.

This was actually helpfull and can be for others that have ones with pits in them but I didnt go as far as paint striper, I just wanted to get rid of the pits.

NO!...Im gunna cobra star the Mclaren and put these on the factory since I seem to have a bit of a condition with haveing to change the 2 every other damn day.
But I wana glue my Cobra's to my headrests....hmmm. I may just go down over the weekend to that modifiers thing and get some more.

Do you know if he had any more in stock?

when i got mine he had 2 left and was in the process of selling them.

what are you going to put the cobrastar in the spot for the oem emblem on your mclaren?? dremel it out or something? or put it on the actual grille

I was thinking fill in the spot and bend it over the spot.

Or just off to the side,....the passenger side but that may be to tacky.

?????????

if you could like dremel out the spot of the old emblem that'd be probably one of a kind and look extremely good.

the off center style would look a lot like what people with actual cobras do...maybe a bit too tacky.

maybe take out the old emblem fill it in with something smooth it over and just put the cobrastar emblem in the exact center of the grille?

i like the first idea personally thats unique

I can't wait to see how this turns out. no worries, I have faith ! :)

I'm assuming that this process can be applied to Center caps on the 17" chrome wheels as well? (although smaller therefore a bigger PITA)

yeah there sint enough space and all I dont think to try to dremel.

watc h out with the headrest.. its hard to get something to stick to the leather without damaging it.. i tried before and eventually with ppl sitting in the car, and rubbing it with their heads.. things tend to fall off u know..

I got it coverd, Gorilla glue is awsome! I glued rocks in a fish tank together under water.

If I mess it up with to much glue I have been pulling parts for realy cheap off of a LS at a local junkyard so why the hell not throw them over the fence,....oops I mean buy em.

Pluss I am thinking on puting them on the back of the rear headrest. Might be almost pointless with the tint, but ehh....
