for those of you who are still in denial about economy recession

it really dont matter if they do it or not... the fact that the idea is THERE and its a POSSIBILITY they are WILLING to do if it get s bad enough... ugh im glad i live in illinois :)

They are not just doing it to cut budget. Most Prisons in the US are now over populated. Not only does that reduce space for others but it spends a :q:q:q:q load of cash!

I have a new policy that should take care of a few things in one shot. Take all the people in prisons with felony charges, send them to Mexico. It's a revision of what England used to do with Australia. Use the money we would in prisons to beef up the border patrol. Then, left over money goes to education etc.

Might as well drop em off in middle of desert with a ration of supplies and tell em good luck! that way we dont piss anyone else off. either that or alaska :D

Gotta love the messed up priorities. We have to spend money on welfare, medicare and medicaid, social security, public schools and increasing representatives pay; paying for minor things like security can't get in the way of that.

Priorities are 180 degrees out of wack. Security and justice (which means Prisons) should be prioritized over all that other stuff.

Heck, a lot of those welfare programs contribute to the increase in criminals, because it pays people to say in poverty and creates a culture of individuals that think they are entitled to whatever they want.

the last line of that article sums it up pretty well:

"Economics cannot be the engine that drives the train of public safety," said Terrence Jungel, executive director of the Michigan Sheriffs' Association. "Government has no greater responsibility than the protection of its citizens."

I think we should do it the chinese way... cut off finger, for thievery, hand for violent crimes, and move to feet when out of hands... why not? because majority of americans think its wrong? of those majority how many have been attacked? (I have)

I agree with that except let's make sure the desert is in the middle east.

I thought that was old school Islam?

So build more prisons and stop giving money away and stop making prisons resemble the Ritz Carlton.

Everybody worries about the cost of prisons. The cost to society is far greater when you let criminals go free. This has been documented. Read Max Boot's book "Out of Order."

Oh I do so agree.

But they also need to stop tossing everyone in jail for such petty crimes.

This guy is alos 100% correct!

Americans incarcerated hit a beyond record high and its do to a ton of reason from petty criminals getting harsh sentences to exactly what Shagdrum stated. Now rapist and baby killers get 9 years knocked off because someone was caught with a gram of weed or because like he said some well fair recipient didn't get enough to feed his fat mouth that month and decided to rob a Uni-Mart. Coincidentally in most cases the man caught with the weed does more time than the man tossing a gun in some ones face!

you know we spend roughly 57 million dollars a year in stopping weed alone? and hows it working out? (not very good)
