So I installed my transmission but somehow one of the dowels kept it from mating properly (even though it looked like it was fine from what I could see). Started the car up it ran fine so I finished putting it back together and when I started it for the second time it broke the flex plate and started knocking. So out came the transmission again and this was what we found.

We installed another one I had laying around and got it all back together, I went to go take it for a test drive and got 500 feet before I blew out the Torque converter seal....FML...so soon she will be coming down a third time and hopefully I can drive it once this year before I leave.

Here is the CARnage.....anyone else got pictures of cool broken parts?

Did you make sure the torque converter was seated all the way in? I know lots of times it'll feel/look like it's in all the way, but if you mess with it some more, it'll go in further...

Something like 3 clicks to seat all the way...

Are you checking the converter free play? You should have .125(roughly) of set back on converter. This has to be varified before any final tightening.

I'm using an aftermarket Tq converter (10" EDGE 3K stall) it has threads instead of studs. I pushed and turned that thing 100 times. I'm positive it was in far as it could go. Slowmkviii saw it also; there was a small, small gap near the left side dowel. Runs great now ...... except for the pissing transmission fluid out the front seal part...

Title says "Flex plate, my ass", I see pics of a flex plate, but no ass pics, we've been cheated!

Do you really want to see my ass......? I can make things happen! :D

I'm leaving for the USAF Nov 8th, it would be nice to get a few miles on her before I'm not allowed to drive a car for 8 months.

Sorry but i have to hi jack a little. Good choice on the AF. What career field do they have you going into?
