I have an 2002 LS that looks exactly like the one in the photo. (Found the photo in the photo thread, not my car) I am thinking of taking off the chrome strip on the front and rear. My question is has anyone ever done that and left them off and if so does that look weird with a space like that in both bumpers? I am having some body work done soon so I could repaint them silver then but want to know what others think.

just paint the chrome piece,

Im not sure how that is held on but if it has clips, the holes would look terrible. I would just colormatch it.

leaving it off would look like complete @ss, there would be holes and such from where the clips hold it on.

Get the Sport bumpers.. Looks better IMO and dont have to worry about the chrome you painted to peel. Just my opinion. either way your going to be looking for a painter who can color match plus some $$

What kind of body work are you having done?

You should paint the chrome strips, front grille, headlights bezels, rear surround while you are at it. just my $.02.:D

Repaint front bumper, hood and side mirrors. I wanted to get rid of the chrome strips also on the front and back. Paint the black plastic around the bottom body color to match. I guess I had never thought of the rear surround too. I spray tinted my tail lights the other day and really like that so I am going to go towards getting rid of all chrome. My wheels are black so maybe i'll do something that way. I would love to change over to sport bumpers but the car has 179,000 on it and I just want to keep it running and make it look good. I just rebuilt the front suspension and have more to do on the back so unfortunatly thats out of the question. Plus when this dies I wanna get an 06 so i'll do a lot more then.
