My car has had the airbag light on for about a year, never bothered me. The code was 3-2. Even after the light was on I could always raise the volume on the radio and change stations from the steering wheel, but 4 months ago the actual raise volume button broke, the just the raise volume button broke. It wouldn't click, the volume down would click but now station wouldn't change, nothing would happen. No radio controls would work from the steering wheel after this happened, or I don't know if when it happened I went crazing pressing the volume up button trying to get it to work, which caused the up button to break. Anyway, I have always thought it was the clockspring.

Today I changed the steering wheel, my old one was fading and I wanted to fix the radio buttons. I didn't have the money to change the clockspring, so I was going to do it next week. I got the steering wheel on there and the radio buttons on the steering wheel work and I can change stations. Everything seems back to normal.

But now the airbag light code changed. Now its 3-6, not 3-2. Could this still be clockspring?

My car is the same. All of my steering wheel controls work fine and I have checked every quick fix I've read about here, but my airbag light stays on as well. I guess the dealership for me.

I have no idea why the code would change.

There are like 6 wires in the clockspring, if you take it apart the 2 larger strips of wire are for the airbag, and the smaller wires run the cruise and radio controls, it is common for just the airbag wires to break and everything else to work, the only way to break all of the wires is if someone puts a rack in it has the steering wheel off a turn, then you can break all the wires at ounce.

Supposedly my clock-spring was replaced just before I bought my car, but who really knows. I think when it gets warmer I'm going to tear into it and check everything out.
