so first im sorry for starting a new thread but i need answer as soon as possible and starting a new thread seemed to work in the past. so i think i have determined that my problem is a leaking drivers side front strut, because that side definitely goes down faster and more than the passenger side. so my new questions are, if im only gonna replace that strut what all do i need? will JUST replace the strut be ok? and who should i go with? ive heard good and bad things about arnott but about strutmasters? and how much is involved with replacing it, is it just like doing a normal strut? thanks for all the advice you guys have given me so far :):):)

so i dont need any solenoids or anything like that all that stuff should just transfer over from the old one

You should be able to reuse any parts that aren't included with the new air struts. Just be careful with the o-rings when you remove and replace the solenoids.

And if this is your first problem, before you make the air ride financial commitment, now is the time to give a consideration to coil springs.

well with coil spring ive heard that the ride isnt all that good and with air ride its just one shock not the entire suspension witch is quite a bit less expense.

I have a pair of used front air struts, Im basically giving away at 50.00 + shipping, I replaced due to leakdown in the front which turned out to be a blown o ring. The struts do have 154K on them, so I can not guarentee their life span, I would say they are good for a quick fix and or spares... Its up to you.
Good luck

Welcome to the boards

so after taking it to the shop today they said that the compressor and both front struts are bad and would cost around 1500 to fix so im gonna convert it over to the coils. now who is the best i should go? arnott, strutmaster, american air ride, sun core industries, who? and where can i find one that will lower the car? and with the car having 143,000 miles on it is there anything else that would need to be replaced? i read about bad bushing causing bad ride is that true? and anything else (not suspension) related that i should be checking out now simply based on milage? thanks for all your help so far guys:):):):):)

Spring that bitch, call all of thise comapnies and price match against each of them. tho they are all the same. Many time I have ordered from stutmasters and the box was a arnott and vise versa. Only the lowere version will ride rough, the stock ride height feels normal but handle better, the lowered makes the car feel more like a mustang, It will carve corners and look badass. You can't have your cake and eat it too. ride real soft or handle.

I would advise you stay with your air ride. It will last a long time once the worn pieces are replaced. The best place to get these part is American Air Suspensions. You will see that there are struts for about 180 ea. and they have rebuilt comps for about same. I would also suggest the Spider valve as well as this bypasses the compressor venting directly (major cause for compressor failure). One thing you need to do when replacing the air struts is to be sure to install new "O" rings on the solenoids,as the old ones are dried out. These come with the units that Eddie Spinks supplies. I think you can see that the shop who quoted you that price was rather high in their price. You can also take heart in knowing that this is a project that an average guy with some tools can do in his back yard. Do a snorkle delete and you are half way there with the compressor replacement.
