Hey everyone this is my first post, however I have been viewing this site for several months now. I have a 98 LSC with just under 28,000 miles that I am having problems with. When I first got the car it had many problems. Several coils, IAC , and very dirty MAF. When I floor it from a dead stop with O/D off and traction control off it ony chrips the tires for about 1/2 second. I was wondering how long yourguys does it for. I live in CA at an elevation of 52 ft. Driving through the hills at the coast (250 ft) it seemed like it couldn't get out of it's own way. When put under a load such as driving through the hills it just doesn't have any power. At 60,65 mph on the freeway when I floor it it increases speed at a much slower rate than it should , however a few times it was like a bat out of hell. Any input would be greatly appericiated. I live 100x higher than sea level than you do, and with 255 treadwidth tires it will still spin them for a second or two. That's not really a great test of power though, next time you have a passenger and some room punch it to 60 - it shouldn't take more than 8 seconds or so from a dead stop.

I will tell you this that my car with bad tires will spin to 20 MPH and with good tires, it will spin up to 13-14 MPH.
On a roll of 60 MPH is not a really good point for the Mark VIII.

Have you tried replacing the fuel filter. That would be my first fix. It is under the inner fender lining on the right side, passenger side. You will have to pull the wheel, lining and several screws and push pins one or two of the push pins are under the body edge like the frame Then you will need a small socket to undo the screw that holds the clamp in place. Then you will see two plastic clips that look like arrows on each end of where the filter ends go in the fuel line. Using your finger nail pull straight back on them and then try gently squeezing the little legs as you pull the clips out the rest of the way.Then pull up or down on the fuel line as the ends slide off the filter. Then just replace the filter the same way. Be sure you pay attention which way the clips arrow faces up or down and the arrow painted on the filter? Then you have to get the back of the filter clamp tab back in the hole in the fender and push the clamp down as you screw the screw back in.
