What is "Electric Air Management" (EAM)?? What does it do? Is it necessary?

I think it may be part of the emissions stuff on the car. If it is, it's not necessary, but will throw a code unless removed as part of a custom tune....

I tried searching the forums before posting but there seems to be no info on this subject. Thanks for the look though. I do believe it's emissions related. I think it pumps air into the exhaust or something like that. Never noticed it until I changed the air ride out and unplugged the suspension pump.
