EGR block off plate

[rant]

Jeesh, and I'm still not in the 12s. :(

JP, other than the EGR delete I'd follow your lead any day.

Hell I'm already following your lead from some 20 car lengths back.

Good to see you sir.

Hey.. think about it.. if you removed some of those worthless mods you mentioned above you'd already made that 12 second pass (joking smile)

I've got an extra 160 thermostat laying around {my spare) if you want to complete your list!

P.S. you will have to put a second gen seat warmer on your transmission pan otherwise it's gonna blow up from being too cold.

J"dont need no stinking egr"P!

KustomizingKid is planning a trip south to do the Tiffany mod to his car.
you should caravan down with him and get your 12 sec pass.

Holy crap all I wanted to know is where to get a piece of metal with two bolts.

Well I hope getting "more information" than you asked for allowed you to learn more from this thread than where to get two bolts and a chuck of metal...and that some of us are @ssholes.

Lol...

People don't understand a lot of things about EGR... like the fact that it does cool combustion temps...

Here is a though to chew on... at WOT EGR is shut off, its all that time that you are not at WOT that EGR is doing its thing.... a race car doesn't need EGR because it's spending its time at WOT, but how much time do you spend at WOT in a street car?

AND then one day.. and THEN one day.. and then one DAY
(paul harvey impression)

You are correct that the EGR is off during WOT. But it is not "on" as much as most people think. It is off during cold start, warm up and cold drive-a-way. It is off at warm idle and full throttle. It is off during closed throttle deceleration.

It is modulated during warm steady state cruising.

The primary purpose of the EGR was to control nitrogen oxides (NOX) as an emission control device. This is done by reducing the oxygen content of the combustion mix by replacing a portion of the intake volume with spent exhaust gases. This reduction of oxygen results in cooler combustion temperatures.

Some newer engines are so clean from a NOX emissions standpoint that no EGR is required.

I have a daily driver so the mark is becoming a weekend fun car.

some "older" modern cars dont have them either. all 90-93 miatas have no EGR, and only the californa model SHO taurus' have EGRs. and i am sure many others, but those are just some i have owned and know they dont have them.
