I found the cylinder head sensor but that only controls the temp gauge. Anyone know where they hide the ECT on these cars? I have a hard start issue that I'm trying to track down and the ECT is the next thing I am going to test. I did find a bad injector but replacing it and cleaning the rest didn't solve the problem.

what is a ECT?

Engine Coolant Temp sensor. I think I fixed my problem though. I found a broken wire. I've started the car about 20 times today and it fires right up every time. I think the computer thought it was really cold out and was dumping a ton of fuel in. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope the problem doesn't come back.

Can you describe the hard start issue? Also curious as to where you found out the info to replace the Engine Coolant temp sensor.

I have a hard start issue and change a lot of parts and will change another on Saturday/Sunday with a jumper wiring harness.

Also just as curious as QuikLS about where that broken wire was.

Its an intermittent problem. The engine will crank for 3-5 seconds and then it will fire up and the exhaust smells like raw fuel. It doesn't do it all the time though. Sometimes it starts normal. Today it worked fine all day until about an hour ago. It doesn't matter what the temperature is outside and it doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. I already replaced one bad injector, all the rest are good.

As far as the Engine Coolant Temp sensor goes, it is a common cause of hard start issues and alot of the time won't trigger any fault codes. I used to do this for a living so experience is where I got the info from. This thing is really baffling me though. Its the first LS I've ever worked on so it is a learning curve.

Thanks for the help. Glad to hear that a former mechanic is on the board and can offer info.

I put on a jumper wire on Saturday hoping to solve my starting issue.
