Easy Stupid question

In the manual it states that a manual trunk release with a key is located behind the driver seat? I don't see it? were is it located exactly, or am I as blind as bat? oh it's a 2003 LS

On the 2nd gen LS there is the trunk release on the left side dash next to the fuel door release that can be locked with a master key (not valet key). On the trunk is a key switch on the right rear trunk lid, inside the trunk is an emergency pull handle release, and the remote entry transmitter. That is all the trunk releases.

One more:

Keyless entry pad, after entering your 5 digit code enter the 5 – 6 within 5 seconds.
 
dude....take the key and put it in the keyhole in the trunk and pop it open!
 
I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ but whats wrong with the lock cylinder on the trunk itself? I'm sure you tried it but I'm just curious.
 
The trunk key release is an electric solenoid also.

Dead battery = locked out of trunk.

As stated in the linked threads no easy way.

As for page 240 of the 03 owner’s manual, that must be unique to just your manual.

No key operated manual trunk release behind the driver’s seat.
 
I had no idea about the trunk being electric either way, thats good to know. (I was lazy and didn't read the provided links)

What about folding down one of the rear seats, crawl in and use the manual pull cord. (I've only had my LS since Aug and its been in the garage since the end of Nov so I don't know from experience about the rear seats but I'm sure they fold down)

Maybe it is time you read the links.

The seat releases are in the locked trunk.
 
okay, I did.....I'm an a$$. sorry I'm no help. (funny, thats what the woman always tells me)
 
There aren't any posts in the engine bay to charge the battery? Hooking up another car should at least give enough power to open the trunk.
 
Thanks guys, Ya I can't believe Lincoln did this morons! The keys to the trunk are electric as well. Even if I can get enough power someplace (engine, fusebox) to pop the trunk would be nice, instead of me trying to force a flathead top pop the back seat release.

I'm kind of screwed I think...
 
I believe the lock release is controlled by the rear electronics module (also in the trunk) so I don't think you can even access the wires needed to pop it that way!
 
What's the 04 manual say about jump starting? NM Just read it, OK now WTF

It is available in the "Tech Articles" link at the top of this site if you want to read it.
Just says the battery is in the trunk. Nothing about hidden unlock cylinders!

LOL, yeah I agree.


But I also have to say that this may have been changed after 03?

I had my car in storage for two years, and the key lock in the trunk worked. And the battery needless to say was DEAD.
 
also, i don't know if the LS has it but i know most cars that have batteries in the trunk still have jump posts in the front..... almost positive of it in fact.
