Anyone used an E-locker in thier Mk VIII? I like the idea of posi when I'm cruising and locker when I'm pushing it.

Thanks,

Don't know of anyone running one in a street car. Mostly for the rock crawler guys. IMHO it's not worth the $$$ and the effort. You can buy a new trac lok and upgraded clutches for half the cost.

The better bet for the street or strip would be a gear type limited slip differential like an Eaton True-Trac.

If you plan on rock climbing, then get a locker. :p

I am actually planning True-tracs for the Jeep. Gonna be a while though still have the Mark to get up and running again and having to buy difs/gears etc for both axles adds up quick.

Are you mudding or rock crawling?

Lockers are preferred for rock crawling and you are better off with limited slip in the mud.

+1 for the true tracs, had a pair in my 150, loved them, quiet and awesome. Takes away the power from the wheel that spins and sends it to the one that isn't, until you romp on it, then it lock all the way up. Example, one tire in gravel, one on pavment. It will transfer the power from the gravel wheel to the one on the pavment. and the tru-track is actually a eaton detroit tru-trac. You could have one wheel in the air and one on the ground, the one in the air won't spin at all.

That's the backup idea, for whatever rear axle I end up with. Its just I didn't have the option of an e-locker on any of the other choices but an MN-12 IRS is looking atractive mostly because I know of like 8 in a junkyard (3 MK VIII's, and 5 T-birds).

It's my girldfriends daily driver so it has to have good road manners. Then mostly on sand. There isn't anyplace local to go mudding or rockcrawling so I'm not investing in selectable lockers for the once or twice a year we head out on a real trail.
