I don't know if anyone here has tried this yet, but this is my attempt at it. I plan on rechroming the buckets again, it's not sticking well to the black paint. My intention is to do the headlights and markers.

Kinda looks like he blacked out the top, bottom and sides of the light buckets and left out the diffuser for the lows and using the chrome backing to reflect but it's peeling on the sides?

They are not finished for one. The reflectors look really funny because they are reflecting so much of the black. The diffuser on the lows will go back in before they are finished. The reflector in the turn signal bucket has not been rechromed yet. The reflectors are nearly perfect, except for some bubbles in the chrome.

Nice, should make for a little bit of a smoked look..I haven't seen anyone do this before on a set of 1st gen housings..Im guessing you'll be using an HID kit in there right? Hopefully the black parts won't cut down on light reflection.
