A friend of mine wants to put one of my 97 units in his 1st gen. Will it fit or do i need to do some adjusting?

I'm pretty sure it will work. Many of the ford climate controls work. I'm sure it's a simple plug and play.

I know that in 2 of my Mark VIIIs I have climate controls from other cars. My 93 has one from a TC.

Marks are different. I doubt it's going to work but if you put it in and turn the key on and the fan just comes on wide open, you'll know it's not the one. I can just about assure you the 97 will not work in the Gen 1 but there are other EATC units from others cars that do work in the Gen 1 and have the same buttons and looks as all the others. The wiring harness is what's different and in some, the vacuum lines aren't the same. Some of the things that happen will be

1. Blower motor will blow high speed when the key is turned on and no button will turn it off.
2. Some lights will not work on the unit.

3. It just won't come on at all.

4. Might get lucky and it will work but unlikely.

I have one in my 94 that looks like a Gen 2 but it came from a 95 Taurus SHO or something like that but every button works just as it should and nothing needed to be modified.

1st gen uses dedicated inputs for engine coolant temp and other inputs, 2gen uses data bus for that. 1st gen eatc in a 2nd gen or vice versa won't work...sorry
