my clutch is already slipping and needs to be changed:( i dont want to pull the moter again and was wondering if anyone has some helpful tips or tricks on how to pull a trans on a mark 8? or would it be easyier to pull the moter too?
thanks!

Well it was not hard for me to do. I have an automatic though!! I had all of the cowl parts and windshield wiper motors and arms off too! That makes it really easy to get to the top two bellhousing bolts!!! If you don't have that off then it is very difficult to get to those two bolts!!! You will need about four feet of extensions and someone up top to guide the socket onto the bolts!!! Other than that disconnecting everything (cooling lines, shifter cable, plugs) was really easy! I did'nt have any trouble and I even had a sh!tty transmission jack! If you have a good one than it is real easy! Oh and you have to drop the exhaust! Disconnect it at the Manifolds/Headers and disconnect it where ever the next easiest place to unhook it is past the transmission. Then its just the crossmember, Driveshaft, starter, torque converter bolts!! I did this all on jack stands on notch from the highest setting. Regular sized jack stands, not the big ones! I had all four corners raised up! Good luck!!!

No problem man!! That is basically the whole process. I did alot of extra work that was unnecessary! My brother took his joints apart on the drive shaft when he did his transmission in his Mark, but when I did mine I took the IRS loose and took the driveshaft loose from back there so that I could slide it out of the transmission! So if you know how to take the u-joints apart then that is your best bet!!!

Whats the easiest way to unhook the rubber piece in the rear that holds the exhuast up.

Nevermind it was sitting directly in my face.

Examine that question for a moment. Thats the easiest part of the whole thing and you dont know how to do it. Please use a mechanic.

On the other hand I like a good carnage thread so just spray PB blaster in the rubber hanger then slide it off.

Those things rock! I bought a cheap one though from Autozone once but it broke after the third one. :( As much as I have to drop these damn things I should buy another one though..... a good one like you posted though.

Meh, PB Blast and a good yank works well though.
