Well as the title states I was being stupid the other day coming home from a friends house, everyone asked me to do a burnout (as they always do) and this time I went for it smoked the tires good and immediately after I had a driveline vibration, expected it to be u-joints, mechanic took the shaft out of the car and inspected the u-joints, they look fine but the driveshaft is twisted and warped and now it looks crooked and also not only is that ruined but my right rear axle is shot too, I didn't "break" it obviously but my axle has ALOT of up and down play now. my tax return is coming in for 1300$ I have to spend 400$ for forged pistons for my other project, my question is what to do now? I don't want a stock shaft back in my mark so I was thinking a 93' shaft, but I just bought a solid axle 8.8 track lock I'm trying to make work on my IRS so I'm looking to do a gear swap at the same time, should I hunt down a 93' shaft? I know they are pretty rare, or should I buy one of the dynotech units from bill over at SCP? I know they are a bit pricey so I was thinking about ordering through dynotech directly to save a few $$, is the 3.5" Shaft also prone to vibration like SCP says? I'm not very up on driveshaft so any help anyone can give me would be awesome.

Also, as for the axles, I cant seem to find a set of NEW 28 spline IRS specific axles anywhere, how much am I looking at for a new PAIR and where can I find them? thanks again for everything everyone on here helps me with and sorry for the novel.

Call Denny's driveshaft services and order a real shaft, no worries, fastest balancing in the USA (10,000 rpm's) and a GREAT product He stands by for the life of the unit.

Thanks man! I appreciate it, how much would I be looking at price wise, comparable to SCP prices, or less? and in your opinion is a 3.5" driveshaft prone to vibrations with 4.10 gears or will I be good? I heard this can be an issue

I'm cheap so of course I would just throw in a 93 DS. Look on Car-part.com for DS and axle. CHEAP and local to you. DONE.

You might get lucky and be able to find a used one. I only paid $200 for mine shipped.

LOL yeah it honestly happened, i twisted it. promise. it will be awhile till i get a new shaft but once the old one comes back out again i will take pics. the axle got ****ed too. maybe mine was already weak idk? im gonna go look on that website right now for a driveshaft, thank you right on the mark! if there is anyone else who knows anyone with a 93 1 piece driveshaft let me know i am interested

The only 1 peice I have needs to go in my car but I have several 2-peice ones laying around. I also have a few axle's too if your looking for cheap replacements. Where in Daytona do you live? I used to live there, got my A&P from ERAU.

I might be interested in the axles, im not sure, i might wanna do new ones too im not entirely sure yet, i havent been able to find any sets of new 28 spline irs specific axles from anyone, not moser or ford or anything, do you know any sources? if not i might be stuck getting used axles. i Live off of 415 by the fleamarket and speedway near ISB. if you know where tomoka farms is near taylor road thats like exactly where i am located

Why are you getting "stuck" with used axles. Just throw it in you will never know difference from brand new. Find the closest 93 shaft to you and pick up the axle out of that car too. 75 for shaft and 35 for axle your back on road for 110 bucks.

yeah your right, how do i tell the difference between the 1 pieve 93' shaft and the 2 piece 93' shafts that were made late in the production year of 93? is there any marks or casting numbers that would tell me it is a true 1 piece? i searched the website you told me about and found 7 lol. thank you sooooo much for all your help

If its not posted by the time I get home tonight I'll take a pic of a 2 piece in my garage and post it.

LOL thought i wouldnt be the only one with a twisted driveshaft. The stock 2 piece seems to be pretty flimsy, but i could be wrong

I would assume the rubber part of the 2 piece would fail long before any twisting.
My drive line shop says the same thing that the rubber fails .

yeah im not too sure how or why mine failed. i was freaking out at first cause i just got finished doing a full moog front suspension rebuild and thought something wasnt toqued down properly but then i observed it was based off of speed and rpm (the vibration was) took my car to have the tires balanced and rotated as it had been awhile and made sure no wheel weights fell off, none of which was the case, my u-joints were fine when the driveshaft was pulled but where the shaft meets it was twisted

A 93 DS is like it says is one tube that has ends welded to tube on both ends. The 2 piece DS has trans end welded just like 1 piece but the rear end side is the tube in a tube end. If you look at that end of DS you will see a 1/8 GAP where the weld should be.

^This. There is a distinguishable difference that is plain as day. The problem with these parts places is they tend to label shafts as a "93-98" Mark8 driveshaft. While that is partly true that they fit all year Mark8s, a true one piece was only found on the 93s and have that 1/8" gap. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting. To be honest man, I don't know how on god's green earth you twisted that shaft unless something maybe bound up in your differential. Either way, it happened. Get a 93 shaft and call it a day. If I was to go back, I would have not spent the money on the 4" unit that I have. The factory 93 shaft will handle all the power that you could put to it with a good high-speed balance. Don Pfau is running a supercharged 93 Mark8 with the stock shaft and 500+ rwhp. Unless you are cracking the nose in the air when you launch, you'll be fine and in order to do that you'll need 9s and 750rwhp.

The one on the bottom is a 93 and the one on top was installed on 94-98 IMGP0014.jpg

If you are going to install a used shaft I would rebuild both the trunions and have the shaft straightened and balanced, otherwise you could have some vibrations coming from some used stuff.

Awesome, hopefully this weekened i will be able to pick a 1 piece 93' driveshaft up , AND the new Chrome 10 spoke directionals i just bought :P
