I am trying to remove the DS to replace the U-joints. I removed the 4 bolts at the differential and have lowered the gas tank. The DS is wedged between the differential and the tranny. I can't get it to drop down at all. Any suggestions on a safe way to do this without harming anything? I would like to avoid removing the differential.

The shaft has to go forward into the transmission to clear. Do you have it loose from the differential ? If not its Ok to tap at it with a hammer, or hammer/ old screwdriver at the u-joint caps to get the shaft loose from the differential, then push it forward.

No problem....you get it out?

It would be a good time to replace your fuel pump.
If your anywhere close to 100k I would do it.
